MINUTES of a special meeting of the Village Board of Cayuga
Heights.held on Thursday, June 25, 1953, at 7,P.M. in the
schoolhouse.

Prof Howte` explained -the difficulties he had 'encountered '
because :of °.the fact 'that the Village:assessore had.'made what.
amounted to .a blanket reduction in` assessments of from lW to 15,E
over the last ""few 'years. - He 'sai.d he °had assessed :on the basis of

costs: He : questioned the-.ouston of valuing farm land on an'.
acreage -basis and - thought it would. make: more =sense to value it on
a:front footage basis. Prof. - Crandall explained:that until sewers
were available in the northern part of the Village ',the Health
Department has ruled that the, land can not be used.for'. residential
purposes on aeoount of the clay soil:_ The point•was brought out
that the-Village Board felt that villagers were paying more than
their share of• town taxes and that assessments in the torn of
Ithaca outside the Village,were not .being assessed high enough.

considered each property in the Village separately, through -the
