Minutes 5/15/19518,9 MINUTES of a regular meeting of the Village Board-held. on Tuesday, May 15, 1951, at 7 :30 P.M. at-the home of Clerk Trousdale, 102 Northway Road. , PRESENT: C. J. Kenerson, Mayor W. s. Randel, Trustee Sherwood Holt, Trustee Sanford Atwood, Trustee C. H, Guise, Treasurer Carl Crandall, Engineer. Henry J. Shirey, Police Justice -1. The minutes of the meeting of April. 2nd were read and approved. 2. IT WAS ,VOTED,.that Oedric H.. Guise,. Treasurer; be authorized to collect sewer charges from those persons connected with the Village sewer system at th'e'same rates as prevailed for the fiscal-year 1949 -50. Engineer.Crandall reviewed the proposal`of.the City•dso change their method of billing for water`so"that the City would bill for water and for sewer. He said he had recommended that if this change:'is made by the`City that it-,not affect the Village of Cayuga ,Heights until next year, 'as our sewer -charge bills are sent out June 1st covering.a twelve month period. 3. The following bills paid on authority of the Mayor were approved: GENERAL Paul Bradford 50.00 Ithaca Journal 2.24' J. B. Trousdale 2.50 Edward Thompson Co. 7.50: Norton Printing. The following additional bills were:approved for payment: GENERAL Postmaster, Ithaca 17.86: SANITATION W. D. Lyme HIGHWAYS W. D: Lyme. General Crushed Stone Co.` C J. Rumsey & Co. 15.70 14. b0 43.0 28 75 Cayuga Lumber Co. 4.50 5. Treasurer Quise, reported a balance.in the checking_ account as of April 30th,of $40902.32. 6. A letter from,John T. Udall of..the Congregational Church was read in which he,inquired if there.,were.any.''village regulations that would prevent the - church from having a childrenle. fair on the Congregational Church lot on Highland Road. Although the letter indicated that there might be nominal charges made for refreshments and pony rides the Trustees felt it would not be in violation of the Village ordinance against commercial establishments in the Village. 7. A report was made of the damage done to.a Village limit sign on Cayuga Park,Road and the Engineer reported that Officer VanZile had obtained confessions from two of the.Wimsatt boys and one of the 'Briggs boys. At the request of. Police Commissioner Crandall the Clerk had.written the parents of the . children involved.requesting re- imbursement in the amount of. $25 for the sign, but both parents had written`back,objeoting to making payment without more proof.of who was guilty and proof, of the amount of the damage. The Trustees appointed Trustee 1 7,. 1 1 91- Randel to arbitrate the matter and he was given authority to ' settle the matter in any way that he saw fit. g. A request was presented from the New-York State Electric & (has Corporation for a right of way over Village land bo build an electric line to service the house of L. F. Randolph on 1 0 Sheldon Road. IT WAS VOTED that the New York State Electric & Gas Corporation be granted a revocable permit for a right:of way through Village property on Sheldon Road for the purpose of building an electric line to the property.of.Prof. L. F. Randolph. 9. Police Justice Shirey reported that Officer Van211e had put on a campaign for putting tickets on all -night parkers in the Village and as a result placed 9 tickets one.night and 10 another night on all -night parkers in Village.streets. Police Justice Shirey said he had fined all of those who were habitual violators of the Village ordinance.. 10. The action of Engineer Crandall in hiring James Collins to assist the Village workmen starting April 16th at a salary of $220 per month, payable semi- monthly, was approved. 11. The next meeting was set for June 5th and upon invitation from Trustee Holt it will be held at his home at 130 Sunset Drive. 12. .Adjourned at 10:05 P.M. Clerk.
