The Treasurer reported a cash.balanee of #2.374.55 on April 30th and stated that he thought this would be sufficient to carry us through until tax monies are•reoeived i I 247 in June. 5. The Engineer reported that he had received a letter 10, from Don Price, Manager of the Ithaca District of the New York State Electric & Gas Corporation,in which he outlined the route of the.new six inch high pressure steel gas main.to be constructed from Lake Street along Kline Road to Cayuga Heights Road, thence north along Cayuga Heights Road to Devon Road, along Devon'to. Hanshaw Road, thence along Hanshaw to.Upland Road where a regulator pit Ss•to be installed on the south side of Upland Road at the location indicated in detail on the map. The Corporation also furnished a map in three sections indicating thereon where the gas line would be constructed. The.Engineer stated that the Electric & Gas Corporation would repair damages in excavation but that there would undoubtedly be settling within a year or so and that this would have to be repaired.at Village expense, which he estimated would be $250. Inasmuch as better gas pressure in the Village would be of advantage to all concerned, IT WAS VOTED to authorize Engineer Crandall to give the New York State Electric & Gas Corporation a permit for the construction of this new gas line upon payment of a #250 fee to cover the inevitable repairs to damaged streets. The Engineer reported that the new Cicchetti.house on Triphammer Road has been bold for $26,000 to Allan Pearce and that the Ervilla Beal house on Kelvin Place had been sold to Stephen McCarthy. The Engineer called attention to the.Pact that'the 075 payment made by.the Community Corners for a water connection 248 covered only the fee for the construction of the initial.buildings, and that inasmuch as additional buildings had been constructed he recommended that the Corners should now pay an additional 475 water fee. IT WAS VOTED that inasmuch as the Trustee action of June 2, 19+7 provided that the Community.Corners Corporation pay a water, conneetion assessment of 075 for the initial buildings'' and that inasmuch as the said'corporation had constructed additional buildings since that date, it was decided that the Community Corners should not be billed 475 because of the construction of the new buildings during the past winter." 6. A long discussion wad held regarding the 'dangerous intersection of Triphammer and East Upland Roads, because of the trees at the.northeast corner of the Austin lot which ( obstruct the view for drivers proceeding east on Upland Road and turning in to Triphammer Road. It was noted that the Town 10 of Ithaca had placed a "e3-ow" sign on East Upland Road juste east of Triphammer Road. IT WAS VOTED to authorize Engineer Crandall to negotiate with E. J. Austin regarding the removal of the,, tr s at the northeast corner of his lot at the corner of East Upland and Triphammer Road, inasmuch as these trees greatly interfere with proper vision of drivers driving east on Upland Road, especially since it had been noted that many near accidents had occurred at this point; and it was also decided,to erect`a "slow " 'sign `1 on East Upland Road just west of the Triphammer Road intersection. It was the feeling of the Trustees that everything possible G should be done to avoid an accident at this particularly I dangerous intersection, as the Trustees would be severely criticized in case an accident occurred at this point. 7. Police Justice Shirey reported two cases of speeding during the past month. In,one case $25 bail was forfeited and in the other case a 415 fine was paid. 8. Inasmuch as the terms of three members of the Zoning Board of Appeals expired on April 1, 1949 IT WAS VOTED-to reappoint the same members, namely H. E. Baxter, Chairman, T. B. Maxfield, and H. J. Shirey to the .Zoning Board of Appeals for the term from April 1, 1949 to April 1, 1952• The Clerk was requested to write each one notifying him of his appointment and thanking him for his past service. 9. IT WAS VOTED that the next meeting would be held on Tuesday, June 7, 1949 at 7;30 P.M. and upon invitation of Police Justice Shirey it was. decided to hold it-at his home at 106 Northway Road. 10.
