The minutes of the meeting of Jan. 4th..were >read. and approved.' 2. IT...WAS.VOTED RESOLVED:,`That.the-Trustees go into a committee -of- the - whole ".to make ,up the-1 949 -50 budget 3...The Trustees.:.adjourned as a committee -of- the- whole:to sit again as a Board.of.'Trustees 4. IT WAS VOTED to transfer 'at this, time from the regular, cheoking'.account'to the Street'Improvement Capital ; Reserve Fund.account. 5. IT WAS VOTED that the tentative budget as submitted by the committee-of-the-whole-be recommended.by the,Board•to the, residents of the _Village for discussion.. 6:_ The following bills paid on authority of,the Mayor were approved: GENERAL n J Y 2 ;31 8. The.Mayor commented on the very valuable work being done by Dr. W. C. Geer in making up charts on taxes, and assessments in the City Village ; of Cayuga Heights,and:the Town of Ithaca. , These charts 'are graphical 'and show trends in:the past with space provided.for carrying them on in: the future ..'. 9 'p .The Treasurer reported on his investigation of ',the bill for #238 47 received for December'lighting from the '.Gas & ' Electric Co. He found that the monthly ' charge for the lighting system`as now-installed amounts to $175.35 which is an increase of X31.56 per:month, over the..previous'oharge.• The "December. bill Ti included the increase., for:Qctober, and :November which had'not:,been previously billed:` The C' was.,. requeeted.to make .an"investi- gation,to determine.if the charge 'now, ; being made:by'..the:Gas & Electric, Co:'of #175'.35, is' ; in'acoordance with;`the arrangement made with the Gas and Electric Co and to find out if the' company had furnished all, the additional.•lights agreed upon and had increased the power of existing'lights.in accordance with the agreement. 10. Upon receiving the account of unpaid taxes:from'.the Treasurer, comparing it with .the original,tax.roll • of,the' Village, and finding it'to be a. true 'transcriptj thereof ; °'the,' Board of ,Trustees voted to sign the certification,'in accordance" with section:126 -b of :the Village Law:. 11. The Treasurer, reported that all taxes, were: now, paid and that there was a cash balance as:of,Jan. 31st of '07,777.07. The Trustees noted tbat.'sewer taxes.collected were;-#3',514-35 ' which sum was 026':25 in excess of the warrant` given' to Treasurer Guise. It'wa's explained, that' this additional amount1 collected listed an`item paid by C. C. Tallman which was not': included in the original warrant.'. 232 12. 'Police Commissioner Crandall,report�ed that there had been considerable.speedingaince the last meeting of the'Board and among those arrested was a Deputy Sheriff.. who -,forfeited ba:il. The'Cierk.read a letter from, Pres id6nt :Burckmyer of the School Board in which he stated,that -the proposed Village offer in connection.with placing stop signs . at.the intersection, of Northway Road and the Parkw ay would ! be satisfactory to the School Board. The Engineer reported that he had already made. inquiry into the price of the signs approved. He suggested that instead of erecting three.signs as originally:contempla.ted,at•...,"I this intersection he.tbougbt elk signs spaced•at.-proper Jntervals would be more effective. IT WAS VOTED,RESOLVED: That ace I ordihg:.to..,the' provisio . ns: I I N 233 Of Section 52 of the Village Law of. the State of New York, a Village election will be held on.March 15,•1949 at the Schoolhouse in the Village of Cayuga Heights, the polls, to be open between 4 :00 P.M. -and 8:00 P.M.$, at which time two trustees will be elected in place of Trustees Randel and•Kent.whose terms expire. The Clerk was directed to'cause'a notice to be inserted in The Ithaca Journal.at least ten days prior to.the election with regard to the time and place`of the election and the offices to be filled, and to post a copy of the said notice. in at. least. six conspicuous public places in the Village, giving'the.same information. 17. Treasurer Guise and Clerk Trousdale were;.appointed.as Inspectors of Election.for.the Village,e_lection on'March 15th. 18. IT WAS VOTED that the annual meeting of th e.residents of the Village. to •make:nominationa'.for trustees. ;and...to:'coneider the tentative budget for 1949 -50 be held on 'March 14p' at", 8 P.M. in the Schoolhouse. 19. The date set for the next meeting of,the.Village Board was on March 14th at 7 P.M. in the Schoolhouse. 20. IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED :.That in accordance._ with Section 102 of the Village Law the Treasurer be instructed to,publish and post his annual report or a summary thereof at least one week prior to the annual.election. 21. Paul Bradford was appointed as auditor for the 1948 -49 Village records. 22. IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED: That in accordance with Section 101 -b of the Village Law those appropriations'showing overdrafts be financed by transfers from unexpended balances of oth'er_, appropriations as set up in the budget. .23.
