0� Trustees of the Village of Cayuga Heights held on Monday, April 4,
19499 at 7 :30 P.M. at the home of Trustee Sayler, 410 Triphammer Rd.
PUBLIC HEARING on the budget from 8 P.M. to 9 P.M.

1. The minutes of the meeting of March 14th were read and
approved.
2. The.minutes of the public meeting of March 14th were
read and ordered filed.
3. The following bills paid on authority of the Mayor were
approved:

5. Treasurer Guise reported a cash.balance on March 31st
of 03,898.58.
6. The Treasurer requested instructions with regard to the
proper method of computing the sewer charge against property

owners. He stated that if allowance is made for new houses and
apartments, a 40% increase over the previous rates would produce

enough to pay the new contract price with the'City, namely 05,000.
After discussion,
IT WAS VOTED that the Treasurer should'bill all property
owners for sewer service at 40% above the previous prevailing rates.
7. The Clerk reported that he had mailed'a copy of the
resolution passed at the March 14th meeting regarding the construc-
tion of Country Club Road to all the petitioners for the construction
of such road.
8. Police Justice Shirey presented an annual report indicating
26 cases had come before him during the past year and that $217
in fines had been collected. 11 offenses were for speeding, 12
for overnight parking without lights, and 3 miscellaneous.
9. The Inspectors of Election reported that at the election
held on March 15th 22 votes were cast; that 11 votes were cast
for Wilbur S. Randel, and 11 votes were cast for Lindley C. Kent
for the positions of Trustee..

IT WAS VOTED to accept this report.
IT WAS VOTED to approve the expenditure of .a sum not to.

a walk on the west side of Triphammer Road, such construction to
start at the north end and proceed south as far as funds would
permit.
The Engineer reported the new school warning signs had been
received and would soon be erected.
11. The Engineer stated that the Electric & Gas Co. had
reported to him that there was insufficient gas pressure in the
Village and that they wished to install a new gas main with
booster pump within the Village to provide adequate pressure.
IT WAS VOTED to authorize the Engineer to issue a permit to
the New York State Electric & Gas Co. for the construction of a
new gas main In the Village, on condition that they furnish a
satisfactory blueprint of their plans to the Engineer, and pay an
adequate fee to cover repairs to damaged roads.
The Engineer reported that the cause of the odor in the
creek near Mr. Chamberlain's house was found to be a baoken sewer
line which had been repaired.
12. Police Commissioner Crandall reported that Officer
VanZile had recommended a warning sign on Kline Road near Wyckoff.
IT WAS VOTED to install a slow sign on Kline Road to better
control down traffic near Wyckoff Road.'
The Engineer reported that the Telephone Co. wished to trim
certain trees interfering with phone lines, and it was agreed
that'this was satisfactory if the Engineer could go with the
Telephone Co. trimmer to see that no damage was done.
IT WAS VOTED to authorize the Engineer to buy a power mower
for the use of the workmen at a price not to exceed' $150.
IT WAS VOTED to purchase six signs reading "Cayuga Heights

Police Department" for attachment to the Police Officer's car
at a cost of 410.20; also a'police memo record pad at a.cost
of $4.65 including box of ten refills. l
13. Mayor Kenereon appointed W. S. Randel as Acting Mayor
for 1949 -50, and the True tees confirmed this appointment.
14. The following Board appointments were made for 1949 750:
a) Carl Crandall as Engineer for the year at a salary of 0750.
b) Carl Crandall as Zoning Officer.
c) Carl Crandall as Police Commissioner at a salary of 0150.
d) Robert C. VanZile as Police Patrolman at a salary of
#2,100 plus car allowance of 4700.
15. IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED: That the First National Bank of
Ithaca, N,. Y. be designated as the official depository of Village
funds for the fiscal year 1949 -50.
IT WAS VOTED that the Clerk be authorized to notify the .
official bank of the following names to be honored on checks for
the year 1949 -50 :_ C. J. Kenereon, Mayor or W. S. Randel, $cting
Mayor; J. B. Trousdale, Clerk; and C. H. Guise, Treasurer.
16. IT WAS VOTED that the Ithaca Journal be designated as
the official newspaper for the year 1949 -50.
17. IT WAS VOTED that the Trustees act as a Board of Assessors
for the year 1949 -50.
18. IT WAS VOTED that the Board of Trustees constitute itself
a Board of Health and that Mayor Kenereon be designated as President
and Clerk Trousdale as Secretary.

19. The audit^ as presented by Paul.Bradford was accepted and
ordered filed.
IT WAS VOTED to remove the list of water contributors from
the audit.

20. It was reported that there were no appearances at the
Public Hearing on the budget.
21. IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED: that the budget as incorporated
in the minutes of this meeting be adopted..
22.' IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED: that the amount of 22,067.39
be levied upon the taxable property of the Village for the year
1949 -50.
23. The time set for regular meetings for the.year 1949 -50
was the first Tuesday of each month.
24. The time set for the next meeting was May 4rd at 7 :30 P.M.
and upon invitation from Trustee Kent it will be held at his home.
25. The meeting was adjourned at 10.P.M.
