MINUTES of a special meeting of, the Village Board:`called
by Mayor Kenerson, held on July 22, 1948 at 7 :30 P,.M.•at the
home of the Mayor.

This meeting was called to consider ways and means•of
assisting.The.Greater Ithaca Faet Finding Committee in .preparing
:its report.to.,thetpublic .Prof. Hill ++as' invited to the:meeting',.
because of hie chairmanship.'of• this committee, and Prof. Mackesey ..
was invited because of his position as Profesaor.of ,,Regional
Planning and his `interest in the matter. Mayor;Kenerson first
read a letter from Chairman Hill to the Mayor in;which he'
outlined a proposal�to employ.Mr._Hoover,.'a graduate student.
in Gornell studying regional. planning, to ass ist,the Greater, `.
Ithaca Committee' :in.its work.. Prof. Hill outlined . the various
problems facing the committee, stating that Ithaca's problem
was common to many other cities.in the State and Nation and
that their,purpoe,e was to. devise means of .obtaining accurate,
information and having it.presented to the committee so that
recommendations might be made..
Mayor Kenerson stated that it was the feeling of the Trustees
that the information desired might be obtained from various :city,.
town, village, and county'officials':if.. they were`asked.'.to'furnieh
the information. Engineer, Crandall.outlined in;detailohis view
of the matter, stating..that he had. no objection.to spending
some money to collect the information, but he was af raid: that,

if the matter were left up to a graduate student the information
A turned in to the committee might be inadequate and inaccurate.
Engineer'Crandall thought that the information should be obtained
directly from the various officials who had the information and
should be presented by those officials to the committee. He
recommended the formation of a Technical Advisory Board to work
with the Committee and thought that Mr. Hoover acting as secretary
to the committee might be of assistance in correlating and
compiling the various facts presented by-the officials. Prof..
Mackesey concurred in saying that this arrangement would meet
his approval.
Prof. Hill stated
that he could
see
no difficulty
involved in the
Village viewpoint
with his own
and
Prof. Mackesey's.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 P:M.
