MINUTES of the annual meeting of the residents of the
Village of Cayuga Heights, held on .Monday, March 17, 1947 at
8 P.M. in the Schoolhouse.
1. Mayor Kenerson was elected Chairman and Clerk Trousdale
was elected Secretary of the meeting.,
2. The Mayor gave a report ,on the mayor activities of the
Trustees during the past year, stating that the City of Ithaca
had raised the fee for fire service in the Village from 0500
to $1,000 in 1946 and tried to raise it again to 2,000 in 1947,
although they finally decided to leave the fee at $1,000. He
reported that at the request of Mayor Gibb of Ithaca he had
appointed with Board approval three members to the Greater
Ithaca faot finding committee; namely; William--A. Hagan, Frank
L. Bolton, and George R. Hanselman. He suggested that the
residents of the Village draw no conclusions concerning the
question of the Village being taken over by the City until the
report of this committee is in. He announced that building-
permits were given for the construction of two houses and several
garages during the dear. He stated that a meeting attended by
himself, Trustee Shirey, and President Chamberlain of the School
Board was held to consider the so- called juvenile delinquency
problem. He reported that a Youth Recreation Committee had been
organized and progress made to keep the youth occupied during
their spare time. He said the Trustees voted to establish the
office of Police Justice and Trustee Shirey was appointed to
fill the position pending the Village election, the reason for
establishing such office being the difficulty experienced by
Officer VanZile in locating a Justice of the Peace when one was
needed. He pointed out that residents of the Village were

furnished this year for the first time with a salt and cinder
mixture for use on their slippery driveways', and,that the salt
.had been contributed by the Cayuga-Rook Salt Co.
3. Dr. A. W. Crowly presented the report of the Nominating
Committee which offered the following.nominations: For Trustees
for terms of two years each, Wilbur S. Randel and Lindley C.. Kent;
for Police Justice for a term of four years;Henry J. Shirey.
There being-no further nominations from the floor,
IT WAS VOTED that the nominations be closed, and that the
committee be thanked, and that the names above mentioned be
placed on the official ballot for the election on March 18th.
4. Treasurer Guise presented a report of the income and
expense for the Village for the year and distributed copies of
the report to those present:
IT WAS VOTED that this report be plaoed on file.
5. Copies of the tentative budget were distributed to
those present and the figures were explained by Treasurer Guise.
6. The meeting was adjourned at 9 :10 P.M.
