MINUTES of a regular meeting of the Village Board held on
Monday, April 28, 19'+7 at 7 :30 P.M. in the schoolhouse.
PUBLIC HEARING on the budget from 7 :30 to 8:30 P.M.
PRESENT: C. J.. Kenerson, Mayor

1. The minutes of the April 7th meeting were.read and approved.
2. IT WAS VOTED that this Board officially thank former
Trustee Holt for his seven years of faithful service as a Trustee
of the Village. The Clerk was requested to write him on behalf
of the Board expressing their appreciation and their pleasure
in having him on the Board as a co- worker. ,
3. It was reported that the Zoning Board of Appeals had
granted permission for the construction.of an apartment house
by the Taco Corporation at the corner of Triphammer Road and
Dearborn Place.
4. The following bills paid on authority of the Mayor
were approved:

5. The following additional bills were approved:

N. Y. State Elea. & Gas - April lights 143.79
6. Treasurer Guise reported a cash balance as of April 28th
of 42,032.92.
7. The Engineer reported that Mrs. Cicchettl had paid the '
usual 475 fee for connecting to the water main. The property
involved is on the north side of the Water Tank Road a short

distance from Triphammer Road.
IT WAS VOTED that this payment be accepted.
The Engineer reported that a small fire had occurred in the
Village truck and as a result he was obtaining a fire extinguisher
to be carried on the truck at all times.
The Engineer reported that Gleason & Knight had sold,their
trucks and were no longer in the road repair business as formerly,
but were confining their business to distribution of products.
In view of this situation,
IT WAS VOTED to give Engineer Crandall authority to negotiate
for surfacing roads.by any means he can devise within the limits
of the budget.
8. Police Commissioner Crandall reported that Officer VanZile
was back on the job following his accident and had been successful
in picking up
some
speedsters on
Village
roads.
9.. The
Clerk
reported that
he had
received letters from
County Highway Superintendent Bert Vann and also from Superintendent
Weatherlow of the Buildings and Grounds Department at Cornell
regarding the muddy condition of Triphammer Road. It was reported
that the County had patched up the worst holes in the road and as
the excavating at the University had been finished the matter was
considered closed.
10. Trustee Kent reported that the 25 mile per hour speed
limit signs had been erected on Triphammer Road.
11. It was reported that there were no appearances at the
public hearing on the budget.
' 12. IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED that the budget as incorporated in
the minutes of this meeting be adopted.
. 13. IT WAS VOTED RESOLVED that the amount of 4159561.26 be

levied upon the taxable property of,-.the Village for the year
1947 -48 and that the amount of $3,511.76 be levied upon the
several property owners listed on the bill from the City of
Ithaca for sewer rental charges, new service charges, and
inspection fees for the year 1947 to be collected in accordance
with the contract entered into by and between the City of Ithaca
and the Village of Cayuga Heights.
14. The time set for the next meeting was June 2nd, and
upon invitation of Trustee Sayles it was decided to hold it
at his home on Triphammer Road.
15. The meeting was adjourned at 9;15 P.M.
