MINUTES of the annual meeting of the residents of the Village
of Cayuga Heights, held on Monday, March 18, 1946 at 7:30 P.M.
in the Schoolhouse.
1. Mayor Kenerson was elected Chairman and Clerk Trousdale
was elected Secretary of the meeting.
2. The Mayor gave a report on the main activities of the
Trustees during the past year, mentioning the purchase of a new
truck, the arrangements that had been made for dumping garbage on
the City dump in place of using the University dump,.and the
meeting with the.taxicab operators at which rates were worked out
for Cayuga Heights. He stated that 03,000 had been added to the
reserve for street improvements and that a State auditor had
audited the Village accounts and had hnade a few recommendations of
a routine nature which had been complied with. He spoke of the
informal meeting which had been held with the Cayuga Heights Water
District and of the benefits from talking over with them mutual
problems. He mentioned the current discussion--going-on regarding
the desire of the city of'Ithaca to increase the retainer fee for
fire service and stated that the original #2,000 demanded had now
been reduced to $1,000 but that the Trustees had.as yet taken no
action in the matter. Mayor-Kenerson--paid special tribute to
the excellent service being rendered by Frank Haskins and James
Collins, the Village workmen.
3. Treasurer Guise presented a report of the income and
expense for the Village for the year and distributed mimeographed
copies to those present.
IT WAS VOTED that this report be accepted and placed'.on file.
4. Engineer Crandall reported that the Trusteea•had been
working during.the past year on the revision of the Village .
ordinances and that the job was now one -half completed. He said

that the general maintenance work had been done throughout the
.
year and that plans were being made for sidewalk repairs and some
extensive sewer main repairs. He stated that the roads were in
worse condition than usual this spring due to the lack of snow this
winter.
5. Copies of the tentative budget were distributed -to those
present and the figures were explainbd by Engineer Crandall. For
the benefit of the residents present Engineer Crandall then gave
a detailed resume of the status of the fire service contract between
the City and the Village, re- counting the original demand of the
City for a $2,000 retainer in addition to the hydrant rental of
$760 a year and insurance provided and the hourly fee of 050 per
piece of apparatus for each fire attended. He described the
meeting of the committecof Village Trustees with the City officials
' as a result of which the City reduced ite.demand from $2,000 to
$1,000 as a retainer.
Trustee Shirey said that he understood from Boardman Lee that
the City did not wish to confer any further but was presenting the
contract to the Village on a take- it -or- leave -it basis.
6. Frank Bolton as Chairman of the Nominating Committee then
presented their nominations as follows; for Mayor for a term of two
years, Charles J. Kenerson; for Trustees for terms of two years each,
Henry J. Shirey and Charles I. Sayles.
There being no further-nominations from-the.floor,
IT WAS VOTED that the nominations be closed.
7: Attention was called to the fact that the election would
be held the next day, March 19th, in the schoolhouse between 4 and
8 P.M.
