The minutes of the meeting.of Sept. 10th were read and approved. 2. The following bills paid on authority of the Mayor were approved SANITATION . ..College Chevrolet Co. 41.10 HIGHWAYS Alesandro Giannetti 59.50 N. Y. State Elea. & Gas Corp'n - Sept. lights 143.79 W. D. Lyme 19.97 3. The following additional bills were approved for payment: GENERAL Carl Crandall - Zoning 5.00 Norton Printing Co. - Certifications & legal notices 9.50 HIGHWAYS Arborist, Inc. - Tree spraying 230.00 4. The Mayor reported that he had indicated to the Tompkins County War Memorial Committee that the Village of Cayuga Heights was interested in the proposed war memorial project and would do what it could to cooperate and further the project.' The Mayor reported that he had signed and mailed to the public service commission a receipt indicating that he had received a certified copy of an order of the commission relating to the sale of tickets by the Ithaca Railway Co. 5. Treasurer Guise reported a balance 'of 010,050.05 at the end ' of September and accounts receivable of #407.50 on that date. He reported, however, that some money had come in since the end of September. - 0 82 6. Engineer Crandall reported that Mr. Wileman on Parkway Place wished to build a garage and had applied for a permit for such construction. The Engineer said he investigated the application and determined that inasmuch as the construction was to be done on Ra -, —T t7� a n,��� °-� V%Zj .,,. j s a private lane the VillageA ordinance relating to,4-senlng did not apply in this case 7. Engineer Crandall reported that some of the Village speed limit signs which are set at the entrances of the Village on various streets were gone, and he recommended the purchase of new plywood signs which conform to the State law, to replace those that have disappeared and to make t possible to have a supply on hand. The sign recommended was green and white with beaded lettering to.read "Cayuga Heights 25 miles. per hour ". IT WAS VOTED that the Village purchase 15 of such signs at a cost of $6 each, plus any necessary poste, and authorized the Engineer to arrange for the purchase. 8. The Engineer reported that the new truck chassis was now in Syracuse but that the body for same was not yet ready. 9. Police Commissioner Crandall reported that Officer VanZile had made four arrests for speeding and that Justice of the Peace Maxfield had imposed fines of $5 in each case. 10. Engineer Crandall brought up for discussion the matter of salary raises for the two Village workmen; Frank Haskins, who is now getting $160 a month and James Collins who is now getting $130 a month. The Engibeer pointed out that these men were all around workmen and that.the city of Ithaca was finding it very difficult to obtain men of this type. He said that their monthly rates , reduced to hourly rates did not seem high enough compared with semi - skilled labor rates in the Ithaca area. The Trustees concurred In the Engineer's recommendation that they should be paid more, and IT WAS VOTED that, effective October let, Frank Haskins should receive a salary of $200 a month and James Collins a salary of 4160 a month. 11. IT WAS VOTED to hold a special meeting on October 23rd at 7 P.M. in order to make up the assessment roll for the following year. Upon invitation of Trustee Shirey, the meeting will.be.held in his office in the Savings Bank Building. 12. Adjourned at 9:30 P.M. 9
