Kenerson, Mayor ' T. B. Maxfield, Trustee . H. J., Shirey, Trustee C; H. Guise, Treasurer .Carl Crandall, Engineer 1. The minutes of the meeting of June 6th'were read and approved. 2. The following bills paid on authority of the Mayor were approved'i GENERAL Edward Thompson Co. - Law supplement 2.00 SANITATION W. D. Lyme - Gas & oil 9.71 HIGHWAYS W. D. The following additional bills were approved for payment: POLICE, WATER & FIRE City of•Ithaca - water 1.50 SANITATION College Chevrolet Co. 4.06 HIGHWAYS W. D. Lyme - Gas & 011 19.62 J. J.. Driscoll Lumber Co. 7.84 Moran, Gleason & Knight - Surfacing roads 1,840,00 4. Trustee Shirey made a report of the collection of waste paper in the Village of Cayuga Heights, as he was a member of the crew that travelled with Frank Haskins iri the Village' truck'. He estimated that 5 tons of paper were collected on Sunday, July 30th. Inasmuch as Frank Haskins volunteered. to drive the Village.-truck in collecting paper, 0 35 IT WAS,VOTED that the Trustees,express their appreciation.to,Frank Haskins for his cooperation in the waste paper drive.. 5. Treasurer Guise reported -a cash balance.:of X13,626.49 on. August lst and accounts receivable amounting to',: 943,.:' covering. taxes, sewer.taxee, and mowing charges ..Treasurer Guise called attention,to, the fact.that'the Village�of,Cayuga- Heights now has ' no'indebtedness. The.record shows that on:Junes'26, 1922 a series of 30 0500 paving bonds were sold to ,the Ithaca,Savings5: :Bank in the total amount of, $150000; and. that on Oct 7;:1930 :a,certificat.e . of indebtedness in the'amount of $25,.000`was a old to the' Ithaca . Savings Bank for sewer construction.in"Cayuga Heights; and Ghat on Oct. 15, 1931',a certificate of indebtedness in the,amount 6f,S$15,000 was sold'to ;the;Ithaca.Savings Bank for strdet : improvements •on East Upland Road; and that:on July .14;'1937. a certificate of indebtedness in'the'amount of 44,600 was sold to the. Ithaca Savings Bank to cover cost of permanent..improvements. Thus:in. the last 22 years the Village has paid off indebtedness in'the total amount of $59,600, or at the rate of •?�2,7O9'per year'. 6. The Engineer reported that the first mowing.of. the lots. had been completed. He said he was able to arrange with Charles.,, Collins to do the mowing at $1.50 per hour. .Inasmuch as the. residents of the Village were unable to hire :someone;ihis year.to' mow their lots he said that the bills rendered to the property owners included no overhead but only the direct charge,. ,Overhead is ordinarily added to the mowing charge,to :cover the, cost: 'of billing, supervision,, etc.. and as an incentive to' property ,own ere. „• to take care: of their own. mowing 7. The Engineer reported that William Geer..had'built a. new, sidewalk:at his own expense, some of.the.:blocks of owhich 'were on Village property. Some mowing was.done, for Mr. Geer,by the Village!, s J 39 workmen and consequently the question.of reimbursement.to Mr. Geer e for sidewalk construction within'the Village had not yet come up. 8. The Engineer reported that George Russell had applied for a water line connection on his property involving the usual charge of #75. However, some' of the property owned by Mr. Russell fell in that group of property which was exempt from water connection charges due to a previous payment by the developer Consequently he had decided that $x37.50 was a justifiable charge in this case. IT WAS VOTED that the Engineer's action in charging George Russell only $37.50 for a water connection charge be approved. 9. The Clerk reported that a letter had been received from an official of the Retirement System in Albany stating that Officer VanZile's retirement deduction must be based on not only his 050 per month salary but also on the $25 per month allowance for carrmaintenance. 10., The next meeting was scheduled for Sept. 11th and the Trustees accepted the invitation of Trustee Maxfield to have the meeting at his home. 11.
