Engineer Crandall explained the vacatioi bonus paid

Haskins".by stating that while Mr. He had "originally planned
to take. his vacation in December, it was found.'that he .,would be
needed to help cinder the roads. He decided that "he would
be "glad
to have the ,extra' money in lieu of a.vacation:so he ".was given
a
two weeks: vacation bonus'.
4.. Treasurer Guise reported a cash. balance an January lst
of ,$90912".51. In view of the large cash balance
IT WAS VOTED that the remaining balance of $2,000.on
the
certificate of indebtedness be, paid at this time.
5,. Treasurer Guise reported .that the'Auburn Savings
flank
had taken over „the mortgage, "on the .Phi Epsilon"Pi -. .property
at
316 "Highland Road and that he had received a bill from the
City
of, Ithaca"for "services in fixing `the sewer I. on the property:in
the 457.62•: A,letter from Mr.- Carpenter

the bank could not,pay'current bills•.but -could pay this +bill if

It were added to the Cayuga Heights tax roll.
IT WAS VOTED that the bill of #57,62 be paid.
IT WAS VOTED.that $57.62 be assessed'to the property at
316 Highland Road as .a sewer service assessment, and that a state-
ment of this action be sent to the Auburn' Savings Bank.
6. Treasurer.Guise submitted'a.letter.from John Young.
objecting to his.bill from the Village.for a,mowing charg�.on his
lot. The Board discussed the subject and pointed out that in view
of the two Village, ordinances dealing with.such matters the bill
should be paid by Mr: Young.
7. The Treasurer returned'his.tax warrant and :report of
unpaid taxes and assessments which are incorporated in these,
minutes. The unpaid taxes, interest, and other charges indicated
a total of 4402.76 as of January 3, 1944.
IT WAS VOTED, RESOLVED:
WHEREAS at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
Village of Cayuga Heights, held on Nov. 16, 1943 at the Schoolhouse
in the said Village, the Treasurer of the.said Village was
directed to return his warrant and tax roll and an account of'the
taxes, assessments and charges remaining due, containing a
description of the lands upon which such taxes were unpaid as the
same were placed upon the tax list, together with the amount of
the taxes, assessments or charges so assessed and the interest
thereon, together with a sworn statement that the taxes, assessments
and charges mentioned in such account remain unpaid, and that .
after diligent efforts he has been.unable to collect the same, and
WHEREAS at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
Village of Cayuga Heights held at 130 Sunset Drive in the said
Village on the 3rd day of January 1944 the Treasurer did comply
with the aforesaid directions, his said statement being attached
hereto showing a balance unpaid of 402.76,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of the
Village of Cayuga Heights do credit.the Treasurer with the amount
of $402.76 according to the provisions of Section.126 -a -6f the
Village Law of the State of New York.
8. IT WAS VOTED, RESOLVED that the properties on which the
following taxes and assessments are unpaid be advertised for sale

on February 2,.9 and 16t1i and if: still unpaid their sale be
authorized on Feb. 23, 1944:at 5:15 P.M.'at the Schoolhouse
according to the provisions of:Section '_126 d of the'Village.Law
of the State,of.New York:

9. Police Commissioner'Crandall reported on two police
cases since the last Board.meeting. He stated that Officer
Van211e had d a taxi driver. Fer�P-a' S andpas,sing a stop
sign on Highland Road., Justice Maxfield;fined`the' driver X5.00•:'
Officer VanZile also arrested;Bob Causer for iliegal parking of:-

Mayor Kenerson submitted a form of contract drawn up,`by Mr. Powers
stating.that it,.hed.not yet been approved by the Board�of Fire
Shirey.
Commissioners and the 06mmon.Council, although, lt was Mr: Powers'

opinion that the contract is within the. City ordinance,of 1938
was adjourned
,Yhich.states that nothing contained therein shall .be' construed
to create any obligation to render assistance outside the City
of Ithaca.
Mayor Kenerson requested Trusfiee Shirey to.go over the
contract.and.look up the 1938 City ordinance. Then.he was
instructed to send the contract''to the fire.underwritere -at
Syracuse for approval after which it could be taken up with
the City-for approval.
IT WAS VOTED that
the Mayor and
Clerk be empowered to act
at their discretion on
this matter of
the agreement with the .
City on the fire service
contract.
