MINUTES of a regular meeting of.the Village Board.held on
Monday, August 2, 1943, at the home of Trustee Maxfield at 7:30
P.M.
PRESENT: C. J. Kenerson, Mayor
T. B. Maxfield, Trustee
H. J. Shirey, Trustee
C. H. Guise, Treasurer
Carl Crandall, Engineer
1. Mr. James Lacey of the Electric & Gas Corporation was
present to explain a new proposed contract between the Village of
Cayuga Heights and the New York State Electric &Gas Corporation
for provision of street lights -in the Village. The new contract
provided for 68 1,000 lumen lamps at $17.04 per lamp per year and
an annual circuit charge of $566.78 per year for•the overhead
street lighting circuits necessary for the'number of lamps specified
at the rate of $142.04 per year per pole line mile, While-the-rates
per lampend the mileage charge varied from the former contract, the
total contract remained the same; namely $1,725.50 per year.
The. term of the contract was ten years:
IT WAS VOTED, RESOLVED that the written contract submitted by
the New York State Electric & Gas-Corporation for lighting.the
streets and public places of the Village of Cayuga Heights.dated
August 2, 1943 be, and the same hereby is, approved and-that the
Mayor and the Clerk of this Board be, and they hereby are, authorized,
empowered and directed to execute the.same in the name.and in
behalf of the Village of Cayuga Heights
2. The minutes of the meeting of July 12th..were read.and..
approved with the following correction: Item 10,,.page 259 "It was
voted that Trustee Maxfield be requested,to investigate the
possibility of a new insurance policy for the Village to cover_
possible injuries to city of Ithaca volunteer firemen on a per.trip

basis and also to look into the matter of,a"public liability
policy for injuries done by city of Ithaca.fire trucks-to persons. .
In the Village in case of accident by -the city fire truck; he was
likewise authorized to obtain sucih: insurance if he.thought it
advisablec"

5. Treasurer Guise made his report indicating.a.present balance
of $11,366.36, calling.attention to the fact.thai several.of.the .
larger items of expense for the year..had now.been.,paid. Treasurer.
Guise reported on his correspondence with :the.authorities:An,.Albany
regarding the certification-of payrolls and.the obtaining.of.a,.'.
retirement rate for officer VanZile. He stated that the amount.of the
retirement deduction had not yet been received to be applied to

officer VanZile's salary nor had he received back from Albany the
certified copy of the payroll. He had been informed that the
payroll may be certified for six months in advance.
