Kenerson, Mayor" Sherwood Holt, Trustee C. I. Bayles, Trustee T. B. Maxfield, Trustee - C. H. Guise, Treasurer Carl Crandall, Engineer 1. The minutes of the April 5th meeting were read.and ". approved with the exception of item 6 which was "corrected to read as follows: "Engineer Crandall reported that the question had been raised whether or not the residents of the Village Could build chicken coops and raise chickens during the war. emergency. "The Engineer stated that under the Zoning Ordinance, Section 2,,this' was not permitted. Section 2 gives .a, list of the .buildings that may be constructed.and item 13 states that buildings customary or incident to the buildings listed may be constructed: Inasmuch as a chicken coop is not customary or incident to any of the buildings that may be constructed in Cayuga.Heights it was ruled that chicken coops could not under this ordinance be constructed. 2. The following bills paid on authority of the Mayor were approved: GENERAL J. B. Trousdale - Salary Mara & Apr. 66.66 '! Prof. Guise reported as Treasurer stating there-was a present balance of #3,852.11. Due to the size of this balance and, the anticipation of tax receipts before long IT WAS VOTED to pay $1,000 at this time on the certificate of indebtedness, which sum is provided for in the budget: Treasurer Guise stated he had received.a check for $5.77 from the tin scrap collected and IT WAS VOTED that this be credited to.the Village.miscel- laneous income account. 5. Engineer Crandall reported that he had started work on the highways and had done some patching.. He stated.that the workmen had cleaned up a,large amount of brush.and.that;he had filed an application for 10,000 gallons of asphalt emulsion together with the necessary maps of the Village indicating•where.it.was to be used. He stated that he planned to use one - fourth gallon per square yard and he would be able to cover about one -third of the'Villag.eI streets and would probably do the work in June. If the permit is received, a price:will be obtained from Moran & Gleaeon for the work. mhp been discovered using a B -B.gun for'.shooting them out. A; memorandum,regarding he_liability:of the Village .for . defective streets and sidewalks and involving'the,liability of :thel.. Village in case of accidents,due,to snow and ice as written by Trustee Shirey.was presented, and Trustee Shirey was given 'EL vote '. of thanks for.the'dare.fulness with. which the legal opinion had. been prepared. IT;VIAS VOTED that the Clerk make copies of this memo and send to the Trustees. 10. The correspondence carried on between "Trustee Shirey b. and Tr. Robinson of the State Engineer's Office was brought.up. for consideration. This involved the legality of the Village, erecting stop signs. As Trustee Shirey is still waiting for,an Interpretation on certain points, the matter was laid,on the table. until the next meeting. 11: The matter of,.reimbursIng.Trustee, Shirey.for his services in connection with the two, above items wsa brought up ". for discussion.' The question was raised as to the legality of paying a Trustee of the Village for',legal services' and" :Engineer; 1 i 2 "5 Crandall examined the Village laws= and`could`f ind-'n&,reae "on'why a Trustee could not be paid for incidental.legal opinions.
