Minutes- 11/17/1942229, MINUTES Of a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Cayuga Heights held at the Schoolhouse at 6:00 P.M. on ' November 17, 1942. 1. On this date the.Board of Trustees sat for four hours from 6 P.M. to 10,P.M.'as a Board ;of Aseessore.to hear grievances.,. and complainte with regard to.'the 'assessment roll as prepared by '. them for the year.1943, and :as "filed with.the Village Clerk on October 26, 1942. 2. Complaints wereireceived. from the followings 1) Prof'.'J.. N.`Goodier regarding_.the assessment on the property at 109 Cayuga Heights Road Bounded .N- Boyle & Myers ' E- .Wyckoff Road S- Knott,-Coffin & Ellie .; W- Cayuga Heights Road The claimant appeared in person 16o object to the assessment of $15,000, stating that he bought the property for. e considerably less than the assessed valuation. - ACTION: IT WAS VOTED to reduce the assessment •on'the. house from $11,500 to #10,000, making the.•total assessment #13,500. 2) C. N. Silcox regarding the assessment on the•property at 312 Cayuga Heights Road Bounded N- Devon Road E- Cayuga Heights Road' S- Patch W- Young The claimant stated his reasons by letter.for objecting. to the assessment of $39500 on his land.: He. requested a decrease - in the assessment.because of the fact_that'he "had sold::a--`,portion of his lot to John P. Young for $1,500`. ' ACTION: No,action: was taken;. due .to'the,fact.that.:the piece;.. of land was on the back.of:the lot andshad little effect on the ` ' actual value of the land remaining, and further because'it was felt 230 that Mr. Silcox had bought this, property at a;bargain.price and it was'well worth the present assessment -of $3,560. 3) Due to'the fact that gohn.P. Young had bought part of the Silcox lot at a price of 41,500,,,IT.WAS VOTED-,that.. the assessment on his property, at .205 Devon Road bounded N -Devon ..Road, . E- Silcox & Devon Road, S- Patch ,.W Village line be .changed to increase the land assessment from 7,000.to.$7,500 making the total. assessment 055,500. It was felt . that;the -land purchased added'no more than 1500 value to.. the Young 'lot. 4) Mrs.--Ruth Bradley regarding the assessment on the property at 604'High1'nd.Road Bounded N- Blood Estate E- 'Highland Road S- Blood Estate W- Robinson The claimant was represented by her husband, Prof. J. C. Bradley, who I appeared in person.to object to the assessment of $19,000. Mrs. Bradley had.written a letter to the Board in which she said the cost of the house was #19,900 and the cost of the lot 1,600., ACTION: IT WAS VOTED to reduce the assessment on the.lot from 41,650 to $1,600 and to reduce the assessment on the.house from $17,350 to $16,900 making a total assessment of',$18,500, 3. IT WAS VOTED, RESOLVED: WHEREAS: The Village Board of Cayuga Heights, acting as assessors of the said Village according to a- resolution previously adopted,` have prepared an assessment roll for 1943 and filed it .in duplicate with the Clerk of the Village prior to November.-lst, 1942 and" WHEREAS: The Clerk caused a notice to.be published in'the".,official, newspaper of the Village and.•posted in five conspicuous;places . in. the Village before November 8, 1942•a notice ttiat file >1943.:. .' assessment roll was filed at his residence, 102 Northway,Road, Cayuga Heights, New York, where.it might be seen until November 17,` 1942 and n WHEREAS: On the said 17th day of November a Grievance Day was held and the, said Board met from, 6:00 P.M. until 10 :00 P.Tj. on the same day, three persons appearing and changes made as disclosed in.the minutes of the said Board, now therefore be'it RESOLVED that -the'said assessment roll as now prepared and'.. verified with the assessor's oath be now comnleted;•verified, and ordered filed with the Clerk, in the total amount.of X3,059,886. 4. The meeting was adjourned.at 10 P.M.
