MINUTES of a•regular meeting of the Village Board held on
Monday, Jan. 5, 1942 at 7:30 P.M. in the Schoolhouse.

5• IT 13AS VOTED that the Mayor be delegated to represent
the Village in connection with all matters arising with regard
to civilian defense.
6. The Treasurer gave his report indicating a balance on.
hand as of Jan. 1, 1942 of ;6,951.90.
7. Engineer Crandall reported that the season's work was
completed and that about the only activity from now on to the
end of the fiscal year would be the cindering of roads.
8. Police Commissioner Crandall reported that a number of
arrests have been'made by Officer VanZile, namely: t::r. McGann for
parking his car all night repeatedly on East Upland Road, fine
imposed '5.00; Prof. Kennard's boy was arrested and fined P5, for
shooting a 22 calibre rifle within the Village limits; two students
at the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity Were arrested for shooting at
phonograph records,which were thrown in the air, with a.shot gun.
Three boys were caught breaking street lights with snowballs and
taken before children's court and released in custody of their '
parents, A serious automobile accident on Highland Road was also
renorted in which a car containing a man and woman skidded and

hit a telephone pole. The occupants were taken to the hospital
In an ambulance.
9. The Clerk reported that he had posted the necessary
notices regarding the inspection of the tax roll and also
published the same in "The Ithaca Journal"
10. Treasurer Guise reported on unpaid taxes and called
attention to the fact that one item in the amount of 05 was
assessed against the University-for mowing charges on the Lewis
property. He reported hat the University had paid the taxes on
the property but objected to paying the 45 mowing charge as the
Village Ordinance indicated that this was only assessable against
the owner at the time the mowing was done. Inasmuch as Cornell
did not foreclose until after the ,$5 was assessed against Mrs.
Lewis,
IT WAS VOTED that the charge of 15 against Cornell University
be waived.
11. The Treasurer turned in his tax warrant and report of
unpaid taxes Which are attached herenith as a part of these
minutes. The unpaid taxes, interest, and other charges indicated
a total of 1694.65., as of January 5, 1942.
IT WAS VOTED, RESOLVED:
WHEREAS at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
Village of Cayuga Heights, held on Nov. 18, 1941 at the Schoolhouse
in the said Village, the Treasurer of the.said Village was
directed to return his warrant knd tax roll and an account of the
taxes, assessments and charges remaining due, containing a
description of the lands upon which such taxes were unpaid as the
same were placed upon the tax list; together with the amount of
the taxes, assessments or charges so assessed and the interest
thereon, together with a sworn statement that the taxes, assess-
ments and charges mentioned in such account remain unpaid, and
that after diligent efforts he has been unable to collect the same,

WHEREAS at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the 1
Village of Cayuga Heights held at the'Schoolhouse of the said
Village on the 5th day of January 1942 the Treasurer did comply
with the aforesaid directlons, his said statement being attached
hereto showing a balance unpaid of 4694.65,
NO',i THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees of the
Village of Cayuga.Heights do credit the Treasurer with the
amount of $694.65 according to the provisions of Section 126 -a
of the Village Law of the State of New York.
12. IT INAS VOTED, RESOLVED that the following unpaid
taxes be advertised for sale on Feb. 3, 10, and 17th and if
still unpaid their sale be authorized on Feb. 24th, 1942 at the
Schoolhouse, according to the provisions of section 126 -d of
the Village Law of the State of New York;
1) Mrs. Constance G. Dall - Part of lots 41 and 45,
bounded on the north by the Village line, on the east by
Cayuga Part: Road, on the south by lots 40 and 44, and on the
•nest by Cayuga Heights Road. Residence.

14. The date of the next meeting was set for Feb. 2nd
at 7 :30 P.M., it being understood that the Board would go
into 'a' committee of the whole and.act as a Budget Committee ,
as the first item of business.
