202. MINUTES of a regular meeting of the Village Board held on Monday, June 1, 1942.at 7 :30 P.M. at the home of Trustee Maxfield. PRESENT: C. J. Kenerson, Mayor T. B. Maxfield, Trustee C. I. Bayles, Trustee C. H. Guise, Treasurer Carl Crandall, Engineer 1. The minutes of the meeting of May 4th were read and approved. 2. The following bills paid on authority of the Mayor were approved: GENERAL Robert C. VanZile - May salary & car allowance 150.00 Stover Printing Co. - Add'1 amount due on tax bills 2.00 SANITATION Charles Mosher - May garbage collection HIGHWAYS 150.00 Frank Haskins - 80 hr. d 1.25; kerosene .60 100.60 James Collins - 80 hr. ® .60 48.00 N.Y.State Elec. & Gas - April luting 138.67 3. The Engineer stated that he had 8.drums.of asphalt used for patching, which would be enough to take care of all.patch work this summer, inasmuch as there would be much less patching necessary due to the elimination of construction of new houses which necessitate the digging up of the pavement for the installation of utility lines. The Engineer also stated that he had made arrange- ments with the city to do the patching in any case where the city found.it necessary to dig up a Village street for repair "work. N Engineer Crandall stated that while it was possible.to get,a Government permit to do street repairs he doubted.if the material could be obtained even.after: the permit was obtained;..and,recommended, that no attempt be.made to surface the streets:at.thii, time:but to defer the matter until fall. Engineer. Crandall. reported that work.had been, started', on the headwall,at.the north end of Sunset, Drive and that" "this job would _ r 2 ®4 require a month or two of time: to complete inasmuch as it 'Was being, worked on in the spare time of the,Village_ workmen... The Engineer reported.:that Officer VanZile..was.finding his ,fob somewhat monotonous due.,to the decrease, in:traffic and had therefore arranged for him to do some'other work'such as cutting the grass•in Sunset .Fark and painting the traffic. signs .to •help.,f Ill ;up his'hours. 7. The Engineer reported that he had contacted the Gas & Electric Company with regard to the installation of additional lights and an increase in power in existing lights; -and found that the Government regulations had prohibited the extension of a utility.. line for more than 250 feet, but that -they were permitted to.,install additional lights on existing circuits and that such.cost would be 025 per year for each additional 100 candle power.Aight. ,The Company recommended additional units r,ather,than an increase; in power of existing lights: Trustees Maxfield and Sayles were appointed,to survey the Village and make recommendations to the Engineer regarding desirable locations for additional lights. The.Engineer was.requested to have the policeman make an independent survey of the same character. IT WAS VOTED that the Engineer be authorized to order the installation of approximately 13 additional lights based on` the recommendation of the Trustee Committee and the police officer, and to report his actions for approval at the next meeting of the Board: S. The Clerk presented the regrets of Trustees Holt and ,Shirey who were unable to attend. Trustee Holt was, out of '.town.. and Trustee Shirey was unable to be present, due .to -his• instruction :in 'First, Aid..— 9. The Clerk read a 1 etter' received from Mrs. C D ,'Albert and addressed.* Mayor Kenerson in which she requested exemption . . from the Village Ordinance regarding the cutting of .weeds ,and:grase, I. u F 9U5 on her property; stating that she found it difficult to hire workmen to do this. The Clerk wae'instructed to write Mrs. Albert calling her attention to.the fact that.this work could be done by Village workmen and she would be billed for the cost. 10.
