be paid in accordance with Section 181 of the Village I Law
Clerk"Trousdale reported that he triad taken up, the question of -

Shire '.and- the latter, reported that Seetion 181-. was qualified by
a provision in the law which made the practice unnecessary
4. Treasurer Guise reported_that.Mrs.;Ci"cch "etti had paid-the

cash balance as of April`30th was, - 12,744:50
5'. Engineer Crandall reported that he.had acted`in.aecordance
with the authority_grant'ed, him at the previous 'Board'meeting'and
had notified Moran, Gleason & Knight that the.Village.desired the
resurfacing of thi roads at a suitable time "in June and :that a list
of the roads to be treated would be furnished,'at a later date.
6. The Engineer, reported that he had contacted several firms
asking for bids for.the spraying.of the street trees, and that.none
appeared to be interested except Arborists, Inc. of Geneva. This
firm offered to do the'work for 0195, yihich sum was well 4ithin.the
budget. The Engineer stated that'he'had. requested Arborists, after;
consulting with the Mayor,-to proceed with the work at' an,, opportune
time.'
''IT WAS VOTED that,the action of the Engineer, in Awardinb the
contract to Arborists, Inc`. be confirmed.
7:. The Engineer reported.that Mrs' °. Campbe11,6a,b,ak'H1ll Road'
had complained about 'certain: catch basins' stating that she ';was
.afraid children would .fall into. them' and be drowned ,'Engineer
Crandall stated ":that'.it was not practical to place screens. over the
catch basins and that since, there was a maximum of six :''incries of .:

water that could accumulate•'there,.the "d'anger of an accident_
occurring was remote.
8. The Engineer stated.that Mrs...Cornelius,,Betten :had•
complained about people parking in the,vicinity`of her house,,.":
but,he. did not.feel anything cou,ld.be done ,inasmuch, as.; 'no.'disburb -,.
ante was caused.
9: The Engineer,reported; that Village,'workmen had :done, some *,'
patching of Village streets and'a certain' amount of clean -up work
in the Village. He.also.reported that.he had inspected the. retaining
wall near the turn - around at the north end of Sunset Drive and had
found,that the:,wall was in.bad condition at, one point,- I bauppd'.by, the
fact that"pressure .against it had forced a.portion of the".wall out.
of line, creating a situation that would result in the wall tipping
over at some future.date. unless corrected. He pointed out,that
unless this wall was maintained,it would result in a weakening"of:' ,
the road bed above. He stated that there was very little that
needed to be done this year in the way of permanent improvements
with the exception of this one item and recommended that a proper
concrete headwall be installed at an estimated.cost of 4500,.,_.
IT 'NAS VOTED that the Engineer proceed with the repair and'
construction of the wall above mentioned.
18•. Trustee Maxfield raised a. question about additional lights
in the Village inasmuch as an.additional amount.had: been appropriated
in the budget for the -purpose.. After.discussion,
IT WAS VOTED that.the Engineer :be requested to ask the Gas.&.. ,.
Electric Co. f,or a proposal involving their recommendations for . i
additional power in existing lights and the addition.of further
lights, particularly on Triphammer Road, and determine whether the
Company would be able to install additional lights.if. des ired by .•

11. IT WAS VOTED that the next meeting be held at 7;30
P.M. on June 1st at thb home of Trustee Maxfield*.
12. The meeting was adjourned at,10;25 P.U.
