4. The Treasurer reported a cash balance as of Sept. let
amnunting to 010,486.11. The Treasurer reported that he had.a
communication' from Lawrence Grinnell, who bought the Papieh property
In which he stated that he did not buy the vacant, lot to the south
of the Papish house. The Treasurer reported that.he had received
from Carl Crandall an'approved invoice from B..C. Parkins in the
amount of #1,044.20 for the'sIidewalk constructed on Triphammer Road.
Treasurer Guise stated that he had written the Sheriff asking for a
legal notice regarding the execution served upon him ordering the
Treasurer to pay all sums owing B. C. Perkins by the Village to
G.L.F. up to the sum of,$1,355.96. The Sheriff then_personally served
such an execution, properly.made out, upon the Treasurer. Trustee
Shirey gave his opinion that inasmuch as this execution'-was served
first it took..precedence over any mechanics!. liens that might.be
served in the future in connection with the.construction of the
sidewalk.
IT WAS THEREFORE VOTED that the Treasurer be authorized to pay
Harrison Adams, Sheriff the amount of the invoice, namely.#i,044.20,
for the construction of the sidewalk on.Triphammer Road instead.of
paying same to B. C. Perkins, on account of.the execution levy.
5. As Engineer Crandall was unable to be present at the meeting
he sent in the following written report which was,.read by the,Cl,erk:
Charles.H. Newman, Chairman of the Zoning-Appeals Board,.has
granted the request'.of C. D. Albert to an exceptioin to the 15 %:of
area restriction in, connection with`.a proposed house at the southwest
corner of Brook Lane and Kelvin Place.
A new culvert on Ridgewood Road:has now been.installed „and the
washout on this road completely filled in.
A building permit has been issued to Mr. Waage for his'.new houep,
7
on Upland Road..
Leo Samuels has purchased the Grace Scott house on
Triphammer Road for $12,500.
Mrs. S. T. Newman has sold a lot on the south side of
Iroquois Road just west of Prof. Heinicke to Prof. Flexner for
1,800.
The Sunset Park 10;00 P.M. parking signs have been installed.
The second and last mowing of the season has been completed.
6. The Clerk read a letter from Mrs. Morris Bishop in
which she stated.that the barricade that has been placed across
the end of the sidewalk just below her house on Wyckoff Road
tended to direct pedestrians directly into a large hole which
draine into a pipe under the road. She also asked for the
erection of stop signs on Wyckoff Road at Cayuga Heights Road.
She requested that some poison ivy be removed from the laurel
hedge between Cayuga Heights Road and Sunset Drive.
Engineer Crandall in his report stated that the poison ivy
would be removed, and that in his opinion the barricade at the
end of the sidewalk was not dangerous. He made no particular
recommendation regarding stop signs.
The Trustees discussed the matter and requested the Engineer
to look into the matter of the barricade further, to see if a
grating over the hole would help or possibly the relocation of
the barricade. He was also requested to make a survey of the
stop sign situation on this and other streets and make a recommen-
dation to the Board at the next meeting.
7. A bid was received from Charles Cgllins and Son for the
garbage collection for the year in the amount of $150 per month..
As this was the same price as Mr. Mosher's, it was decided to
168
offer the contract to Mr. Mosher for another year,-in view of the
fact that his services had been satisfactory and in further consid-
eration of the fact that he had carried workmen's Compensation at
his own expense.
IT WAS VOTED to authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to negotiate
with Mr. Mosher regarding the contract for the coming year on the
same basis as the old contract.
8. The date-of the next meeting was set for 7 :30 P.M. on
October 6, 1941.
9. Adjourned at 9 :00 P.M.
