MINUTES of a regular meeting.of the Village Board held
on June 2; 1941 at 7:30 P.M. in.the Schoolhouse.

1. The minutes of the meeting of May 5th were read-and approved.
2.* The matter,of sidewalk construction for the year•was
discussed and it•was generally agreed that-the greatest need
fora sidewalk-was on the south end of'Triphammer Road;
consequently,
IT WAS VOTED that a four -foot concrete sidewalk
should•be, built on Triphammer- Road•from the Bayles property
to the Village line, a distance,of•approximately.1200 feet,
during the current fiscal year, and that if the Engineer
considers it advisable a snow fence be erected opposite the '
sidewalk-to facilitate-control of the snow in this section.
3. The Engineer reported that the slow and stop-signs
that had been recommended at the last meeting.had now-been
ordered.
4. The following bills paid on authority of the-Mayor
were approved:

6, The Mayor brought up for discussion the closing of the
Stewart.Avenue bridge and pointed out that it would probably be
two years or longer before a new bridge would be built.
7. The Treasurer presented his report indicating a cash
balance as of June lot of #1,829.78. He stated that all tax
bills had been sent out:
8. The Engineer reported that the manhole covers had
been adjusted to the proper street level. He also reported that
he had received bids from Moran & Gleason for the surfacing of
the streets in the Village most in need of treatment and

streete.be awarded to Moran & Gleason at a contract price of
#1,318.
The Engineer reported that the spraying ; work -by Arborists,
Inc, had now been completed in a satisfactory manner and-that it
was evident that the tent caterpillars this year were not
numerous but that many canker worms were ,noticed'. He'felt that
Arborists had done a satisfactory job.

The Engineer reported that Donald McPherson's residence, at
III Northway Road had been sold to Prof. R. H. Wagner, and
that he had issued a building permit to Mr. McPherson for the
construction of a house at the corner of Northway Road and The
Parkway: It was reported that Mr. McPherson had paid $2,500 for
the Barger lots at the corner of Parkway and Northway Road.
The Engineer reported that Mrs. Cicchetti had paid the $225
assessment for connection of sewer and water mains and was now
building's. new house on Triphammer--Road:
The Engineer reported that Prof. L: F. Randolph had started
to dig-a trench-from-his - property on the north side of -upper
Water Tank Road, had tunnelled under the Water Tank Road and
was about to connect to the water main without a permit.
Engineer Crandall stated that Prof: Randolph's intention was to
connect to the large water main just west of the City water

tank in order to obtain water for irrigation-. The Engineer
said he had stopped construction and had notified the City
Water Department not to permit'the water connection. Inasmuch
as Prof. Randolph intended to use the water for irrigation
purposes only
IT WAS VOTED that the Engineer be authorized to issue a
permit to Prof ..Randolph to make the water,.connection upon
payment of a $25 fee, with the understanding that if a-house
should be built at some time in the future on this site.an
additional #50 would-become payable.
9. Trustee Maxfield reported that M. L. Holmes of G. L. F.
had taken title to the Cerberus property at 305 Highland Road.
10. The Clerk reported the receipt of carbon copies of
letters written by Health Officer H. H. Crum to Sherman-Peer
regarding the white property at 508 Highland Road and to Prof.
Durham at 101 W. Upland Road indicating that a nuisance was
being caused by a lack of sewer connections on these properties.
IT WAS VOTED that Karin white be notified of the violation
of the Village ordinance regarding sewer connections and that
a copy of the letter be sent to her agent, Sherman Peer.
IT WAS VOTED that the Engineer be authorized to install
a sewer on Prof. Durham's property before the next meeting of
this Board, unless upon investigation he found that the sewer
connection had already been made.
11. The matter of the appointment of a secretary of
the Zoning Board of Appeals was brought up for discussion,
and after learning that the Board may consist of either three
or.-five members and that the terms of the present members had
expired,
IT WAS VOTED that a new Board of Zoning Appeals be
elected consisting of Charles H. Newman, Ralph W. Curtis, and
Sherman Peer, for terms of three years each.
12. The next meeting of the Board was set for July 7th
at.7:30 P.M.
13. Adjourned at 9 :30 P.M.
