The Mayor reported on the creation of a committee of, residents in the town of Ithaca adjacent to.the Village, which has. been appointed to consider from time to time problems of common interest to ,that. portion of the town and the Village, with the thought in mind that this section north of the Village may,wish some day to become' -part f of the Village:. The Committee consists.of.W. C', Geer, Chairman; Charles Treman; Frank Howe,•.and Charles Newman.-!• and 5. The Treasurer made his report, indieating a; balance on -hand on June• lst of $645.18., He suggested that the ;,Village .pay. The, Mayor reported that he:, had turned .the matter of Workmen's Compensation insurance `relative -to Mr. Moaher's'.Iemployees over to Trustee Shirey. Mr..Shirey. stated that he had'.contacted Mr. Mosher, that.the latter had agreed to. take out the' insurance, and.had done so on May 16th at a z ost to him of,.0129 for.a.year's premium. Mr. Mosher mach no objection to, handling'.thie, expense himself., 7. The Engineer.reported that.he. had secured :a bid fromi, Arborists, Inc.. for spraying the Village trees for 4250, and one from Schuyler Hafely for #180. The Engineer.recommended that`the contract 'be awarded to Mr. Hafely, and IT WAS VOTED that Mr. Hafely be awarded the contract for spray- ing village, trees in the amount of,_,0180. 8. Mr. Crandall reported that dulvei Smith had applied•for and been granted permission for sewer connection on his new house on Comstock Road.: This is iri the same.group of.;houses.,occupied by' Mr. Meigs and Prof. Bushey, and it was previously agreed that this group should be permitted to join the .Village seuer,sy'stem:at a cost of 327, per year, 015 -of which is to be'turned over.'to. the City and $12 retained, by the Village.. , .,IT WAS VOTED that the Clerk""notify Mr. Smith. that his request:` for sewer.,connection was granted 9. Engineer, Crandall reported the following _real estate trans =- ,actions: That anew >houae` was being constructed %on Midway Road by, ";`; Earl •Northrop':on the lot formerly. owned by,''.B. P 'Young,that,.Prof Hurd has bought a portion of:the,.Kappa Delta Rh' o lot on Highland Road; that Mr. Silcox 'has bought the lot' on. 'Devon ;and Highland":.,. Roads; that Mr. Louis P:' "Smith has bought "the Dorothy Barstow.'"house,; that Prof.. Curtis,.•has ;bought the J..r. Parson lot.. on Sunset: ;Park, that J. R. Livermore has. "bought the vacant..lot'on the north side of ". Iroquois Road east of -the Cornell driveway; that Gordon". Ellis has s. bought the`Metzger, house 10. The, Engineer also reported that sewer "connections "have now been completed by Prof,. ",Petry and J F.:. McKinney,. This leaves unconnected only the properti,es.of,Prof..Durham and Mrs..o KeConne, l l. 11. The Engineer presented a,bid from Moran;& Gleason for the. surfacing of 12 roads within .the "Village.at a cost of.$1660,,the'roads mentioned in the bid being those designated by.the Engineer 'as most in need of treatment this.summer. IT WAS VOTED to award :the contract for the treatment .of these roads to Moran & Gleason for $1660 to be paid from the -• #1800, "available in the budget for surface treatment of.`roads ';The acceptance; :,of the contract with the roads listed was filed'with the.CleM.,,, 12. Mr. Crandall brought up for.discusaion..the suggestion of 'Prof. Wiegand at,the annual,Village meeting for new grading on Devon Heights'' Road at the intersection.of Cayuga::j� Road, which.:is,a. "dangerous ,. . crossing due to the steep'pitch of Devon Road as'it.approaches Cayuga Heights Road from the west; and due to the.hump'in'Cayuga.'. Heights Road just south of .the crossing;. After,discussion..of the problem, the.Mayor` requested-that all,.those present make it .a point to investigate this intersection and be .prepared to discuss it further at the'next meeting. .13 The: 01erk.brought up.the matter of :the'number of signs- tures necessary'on checks, 'an d the law on': the eubja6 %vas 3nvesti gated. While At`ie.not necessary:to „have three'signatures on -., checks, it is required to have at:least two on o$ders. and one'. on checks, and therefore.it was suggested that when the present:'supply, . of checks runs out a new form of check, be printed. :which :would be a combination order and check with two signaturesyappearing 1 on the order portion, the check to.be signed by the Treasurer. . 14 The Clerk reported.that Sherwood Holt had signed the oath of office as Trustee and the affidavit of eligibility.' 15. The audit of Seville Reulein covering the Village records for the period March 1, 1939 to Feb.'.29, 1940`was.received and examined by the Trustees. IT WAS VOTED to acdept this 'report and place it..on.file. 16. The time for the next meeting was set'for July lst at 7:30 P.M. 17. Adjourned at 9 :10 P:M: Clerk..
