While the complaints received were practically negliglble, still the snow removal was recognized as a problem. Some of the streets being state, county or town highways were cleared by the equipment of those government units, and Prof. Crandall reported that he.had Just now arranged with Harry Baker, Road Superintendent;of.the Town of Ithaca, to clear the remaining streets of the Village'. A discussion followed as to the practicability.of the Village owning its,own snow removal machinery, but the Engineer pointed out that effective equipment would mean an initial invest ment of some $5,000, and the cost.of continued maintenance'and depreciation plus the problem of having,on hand a trained personel to operate the equipment,'would probably cost'more than it was worth,. 1 . ' 31; in view of the,'fact, that the Village rarely experiences a snow ' condition such as we have at present. , It was agreed that the only practical thing to do would be to.try to.arrange for the rental of equipment when conditions are particularly severe. 6. The following resolution was adopted: "Desiring.to express the.ir•keen interest,.•in and support of the bills introduced in.the New York State Senate by Mr. Stagg and in the Assembly:.by Miss Todd :for the purpose of providing a State control over outdoor advertising, The Board of Trustees of the•Village of Cayuga Heights;iN.
