i Cayuga Heights held*at the Schoolhouse between 7:30 and 10:00 P.M.
April 29th2 1937.
PRESENT: H. E. Baxter, Mayor
G. I. Dale, Trustee
Sherman Peer, Trustee
Carl Crandall, Engineer
C. H. Guise, Treasurer
J. B. Trousdale, Clerk
1. The minutes of the meeting held on April 5th were read and
approved.
2. By motion the members of the Board of Trustees adopted a
resolution constituting such members to be the members of the Board
od Health of the Village of Cayuga Heights for the fiscal year 1937 -38.
1 r� 3. The following bills which were paid on the order of the Mayor

4. The following additional bills were presented and ordered paid:
HIGHWAYS:
Co` -op. G.L.F. Service, Inc. - 1 bu. clover seed 10.20
J. B. Trousdale - re- imbursement for recording fee
at County Clerk's Office 1.15
5. Mayor Baxter reported on negotiations with the McKinney
Agency for bonding the Treasurer. By motion the Continental Casualty
Co. of Chicago was designated as the Surety Company and the bill of
$90.00 covering the bond of $15,000 on Treasurer and Collector Guise
' was ordered paid.
6. Treasurer Guise made his report as Treasurer, and it was .

ordered accepted and filed in the minutes,
7. After discussion regarding the Village safe, the Clark was
instructed to take.steps to have the safe opened.
8. Engineer Crandall reported on negotiations with the Gas &
Electric Corporation regarding the removal of poles interfering with
the operation of the snow plow. The Gas & Electric Corporation has
agreed to move one of the objectionable poles,
9. It was moved and seconded and carried that the regular
meeting on May 3rd be omitted with the understanding that the Mayor
was authorized to call a special meeting in May if such.was found
necessary.
10. Trustee Peer made a report on the street lighting rates,
stating that he had interviewed Mr. Lacey.of.the Gas Fo Electric.

Corporation. Mr.'Lacey stated that they could not reduce the
and be consistent with rates they had established in other villages
in-this part of the State. The present contract was signed in 1933
and runs until 1943. A summary of the present contract was turned in
by Trustee Peer and was ordered filed:
11. Trustee Dale reported in regard to f ire service ,rates, stating
that a meeting had been arranged for April 30th at 5:00 P.M.
12. A report of the committee on water service'retes indicated .
that a meeting has been scheduled for Apri1.30th at the City.Hall
with the city officials,
13. Mayor Baxter reported on:the plans for the Village tool house
to be built adjacent to the reservoir. After discussion between Mayor
Baxter and Engineer'Crandall, an agreement was reached in. regard to,
the general specifications for the building.

14, Mayor Baxter read the report of Trustee Kenerson with regard
eto bus transportation. He reported that he had already talked with
President Holt of the Village School Board and had arranged for a
meeting with Mr. Sweet of the Ithaca Traction Company and expected
to be able to make a final report at the next meeting.
15. Mayor Baxter read a�lgtter received from Mrs. Libby, request-
ing a.trater main be constructed by the Village to supply water to.the
lot recently purchased from her by Prof. DeVane. Engineer Crandall

drew a sketch and explained to the Board what was involved-in-the.
matter. After general agreement that the Village had no justification
to make improvements on a single lot out of the general tax fund,
it was voted that the request be denied and the Clerk,was. instructed
to write Mrs. Libby to this effect, sending a copy of .the letter to
Prof; DeVane .
16. Treasurer Guise brought.up the question of due dates on,
property taxes and sewer taxes, pointing out that the property taxes
are due Tune lst to Turie.30thtiihile the sewer taxes are.due'Tune 1st
to July 15th. It was voted that both taxes be made to fall due
between June 1st and Tune 30th, inclusive.
17. Trustee Peer pointed out the dangerous oondition existing
at the triangle of land bounded by Cayuga Heights Road, Wyckoff Road,
and Kline Road, oaused,by the fact that brush has grown up: Engineer
Crandall.reported a slow but steady progress in get tting suoh situations

1. The Clerk read the Milk Ordinance which was approved at the
meeting held on April 5th which reads as follows:
"RESOLVED: That on and after May 20, -1937, no milk or cream as
defined in Chapter .Iii of the State Sanitary, Code shall be ; sold , dis-
pensed, or offered for sale in the Village of Cayuga Heights other than
'Grade A Pasteurized', and to be sold in bottles only. Any violation
of the above provisions shall constitute a misdemeanor, punishable by

1. The Clerk certified to the action taken by the Board of
Health with regard to the milk ordinance and read the ordinance to
the Trustees.
2. It Bras moved, seconded, and carried that the milk ordinance
be adopted and made effective May 20th, 1937 with penalties for
violation as stipulated.
' 3. The Clerk visa ordered to take the necessary legal steps with
regard to posting and publication of notices, in connectio n with
the milk ordinance.

held at 9:25 P.M. April 29, 1937.

C. H. Guise, Treasurer
1. B. Trousdale, Clerk
1. The Clerk certified to the action taken by the Board of
Health with regard to the milk ordinance and read the ordinance to
the Trustees.
2. It Bras moved, seconded, and carried that the milk ordinance
be adopted and made effective May 20th, 1937 with penalties for
violation as stipulated.

regard to posting and publication of notices, in connectio n with
the milk ordinance.

Mayor Baxter reported on
the budget Hearing with regard to the
budget,
stating that no citizens appeared.
5.
Engineer Crandall made a
report with regard to,the. spraying to
protect
against tent caterpillars.
He stated that Mr. Wayne Thomas had
been hired to spray all bushes and
trees within 30 feet of the center of
all roads within the Village at a
cost of 0200.
6, The budget for 1937x38 was preserbed and it was voted that it should
be approved with the addition of an item of $200 for spraying and with
the stipulation that an addition to the total expenditure might be
necessary because of the fact that the cost of fire protection has not
yet been determined, as final arrangements with the city are pending.
The tax rate was set at .006.
