12. The following report of Engineer Carl Crandall concerning the
construction of a sidewalk along Hanshaw Road was received and filed
Dear Prof. Viiegand :
IfFebruary 10, 1930.
In accordance with recent request I have been working on an
estimate of cost for a sidewalk on Hanshaw Road between Cayuga Heights
Road and Cayuga Circle. The total length is about 2000,feet.. The
estimates.are as follows :
FOR WESTERLY SIDE OF ROAD
Two thousand feet of concrete walk Q 1.00 ---- - - - - -- 2000.
Rough fill free from Upland Road Job ---------------
Two bridges near upper end, two culvert crossings
'. near lower end, guard rails, retaining walls - - - - -- 2300.
(Note that cost of walls can be largely saved if
property oimers permit fill to enroach outside.
of street line)
Find grading and seeding `------------------=-- - - - - -- 200—$4.,500'.
172
(Heavy part of work to be by contract and village
road men to do balance)
FOR EASTERLY SIDE OF ROAD
Two thousand feet of concrete walk Q 1.00 --- - - - - -- $2,000.
Excavation. work ----------------------------- - - - - -- 600.
Bridges, Culvert crossings, but no retaining walls
and less guard rail than westerly side -- - - - - -- 1,600.
Fine grading and seeding -------------------- - - - - -- 200.
Replanting shrubbery removed --------------- - - - - -- 100.
There is little or no difference in cost in the two different
plans and it is necessary to look to other considerations in
making a decision.
Very truly yours,
Carl Crandall, Engineer°

Meeting of the Residents of the Village of
Cayuga Heights held on March 10,1930.
$4,500.
The meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Wiegand at 8:10 P.M.
there being forty -five residents present.
C. Tracy Stagg was appointed Chairman of the meeting.
Acting Mayor Wiegand outlined the activities of the Board of
Trustees of the Village and asked for suggestions as to the plans to be
followed in the future concerning the improvements of the streets of
the Village: Several residents expressed the opinion that the various.
unimproved streets of the Village should be improved in the same manner
as the Parkway, E. Upland Road and the various other streets which have
been gravelled and curbed, as soon as it was possible to do so. There
were also requests that Northway Road, Kline Road, and the extension of
Highland Road north from the intersection of Highland and Hanshaw Roads,
together with Triphammer Road, Hillside Roars and Kelvin Place, should
receive some attention.
It was suggested that the Board of Trustees call to the attention
e
173
the State Highway Department the condition of the Cayuga Heights Road
and Hanshaw Road and see if some improvement in their condition could
not be accomplished.
The building of sidewalks in the Villate.was, discussed "but no action
taken.
The present condition of the plans for the new sewerage system was
reported and it was expressed as the opinion of the meeting that these .
lens should be pushed to completion and the construction of the sewers
tar d as rapidly as possible.
The nominating committee reported the nomination of Professor L. A.
Maynard as Mayor for a term of two years, and presented the names of
J. J. Dall, Vim. A. Hagan, J. B. Boyle and A. C. Fraser as candidates
for the position of Trustee for a term of two years; two to be elected.
The report of the Treasurer which had been presented to the Board
of Trustees of the Village earlier in the evening was presented to the
meeting.
The matter of extending the northern - limits of the Village to take
in some of the territory to the north of the Village line was discussed
' and it was expressed as the opinion of the meeting that a committee
should be appointed by the Board of Trustees to consider the questions
involved in this connection.
!Action was-duly made and seconded that it was the sense of the
meeting that the Board of Trustees should again appoint a nominating
committee for next year.
