Present : W. L. Williams, Mayor K. M. Wiegand; Trustee L. P. Wilson, Trustee S. S. Garrett, Trustee There was a discussion ofthe question of the Village taking over the street known as Overlook Road as a Village street, Mrs. Libby appearing and urging the adoption of the plans as laid out by Engineer Carl Crandall. Final action concerning the matter was deferred until the next meeting of the Board and Trustee Wiegand was requested to take up with Engineer Carl'Crandall the question of the width of the road and the nature of the construction of the road and the gutters. Adjourned L. N. Simmons Clerk Regular Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Cayuga Heights held on April 1, 1929. Present : W. L. Williams, Mayor E. H. Wanzer, Trustee H. E. Whiteside, Trustee K. M. Wiegand, Trustee 1. The minutes of the last regular meeting and of the special meeting held on March 19th were read and approved. 2. L. N. Simmons was appointed Clerk of the Board of Trustees for the ensuing year. 3. A. J. Heinicke was appointed Treasurer of the Village for the ensuing year. 4. Trustee K. M. Wiegand,was appointed'as Acting Mayor of the Village in the absence of Mayor Williams for the ensuing year.' 5. It was , RESOLVED : That the Clerk secure a bond in the amount of $5,,000. and that the Treasurer secure one in the, amount of $16,000. for the year 1929 -30. 149 6. The Mayor reported the employment of William Barnes for work on the streets and parks of the Village at a salary of $140. per month and of a helper for him at the rate of $.60 an hour. The employment of these two men was approved for such period as their employment may be necessary and satisfactory. 7. The Mayor was authorized to purchase the necessary tools and equipment to be used by these men in their work in the Village._ S. The following bills were approved and ordered paid HIGHWAY FUND Wm. F. E. Moran Company, in accordance with the terms expressed in their letter to him, to scrape and dress the streets and his action was approved. 10. The matter of the construction of a sewer for the Village was discussed and a committee consisting of Trustees' Wiegand, Chairman; Wanzer and Whiteside was appointed to take up with the City officials the question of the disposal of sewage for the Village and this committee was authorized to secure the services of an engineer, should they deem it advisable to do so, to advise ,.`on the engineering features involved. 11. The application of Mrs. D. C. Gillespie for permission to plant shrubs on Village property along the walk entering her premises from the Parkway was discussed and the Clerk requested to advise her that the Trustees of the Village are unwilling to authorize planting at the present time, but will reserve entire freedom to remove said planting at any time it sees fit. The matter of the acceptance of Overlook Road as a Village street was discussed and the Clerk requested to advise Professor Pr�ofessor v c, t w4 a t co- t nw r w��i a- k"t" "(/ 9 ' ( c I 150 Dwight Sanderson that the Trustees of the Village cannot consider the acceptance of this road as a Village street unless it is made at least twenty -five feet in width and the original grading according to an engineerts plan acceptable to the Board of Trustees of the Village. 13. A committee composed of Trustees Wiegand, Chairman; and` Wilson and Treasurer Heinicke, was appointed for the purpose of formulating a budget for the year 1929 -30, and it was RESOLVED : That the public meeting for the discussion of said budget shall be held at 7:30 P.M. on the 22nd day of April, 1929. 14. It was RESOLVED : That the Ithaca Journal News be designated as the official newspaper of the Village. 15. It was RESOLVED : That the Board of Trustees of the Village act as the assessors therefor for the fiscal year 1929 -30. Adjourned L. N. P, Wi 1 ra N Trvssa - A public meeting was held for the purpose of proposed budget of the Village in accordance with posted and published as follows : considering the the notice duly I'Notice is hereby given pursuant to the requirements of Section 111 of the Village Law of the State,of New Yorke that a budget of the revenues and expenditures for the current fiscal year for the Village of Cayuga Heights has been prepared and duly filed with the Clerk of said Village i 1 151 and that the Board of Trustees of said Village will hold a public hearing for the consideration of said budget on April 22nd,.1929,'at 7:30 P.M. in the School House in said Village. The minutes.of the last, previous meeting were read and approved. 2. After due consideration of the budget heieinbefore adopted the Village tax levy for the year 1929 was made at six mills for each dollar -of assessed valuation bf real property. 4. Trustee Wiegand was requested to follow up the matter of lights in the Village and to see if it is possible to secure from the New York State Electric Corporation the proper inspection'service. 5. IT WAS RESOLVED :.That the Clerk prepare -and send to.each taxpayer of the Village a tax bill showing.the amount.of.assessed valuation and the amount of the tax due: The Clerk was authorized . 152 to purchase the necessary tax bills and tax receipts for notifying t the taxpayers of the time and amount of the taxes due and the necessary' legal receipts which must be given upon the payment of such taxes. 6. The Clerk was instructed to request an itemized statement from the Health Officer of the Village. 7. A bill of $63.90.for Workmen's Compensation for the Village- was approved and ordered paid. 8. The following bills approved by the Mayor and heretofore• paid, were approved : HIGHWAY FUND Raymond Rinker, 15 yds. gravel @ $2.25 per yd. - - - - - -- $33.75 M. M. The matter of oiling Triphammer Road and the streets of the Village was left to the Mayor with power. 10. IT WAS RESOLVED : That the Clerk should request reports from the Building.Commissioner of all permits granted by him. 11. A letter.under date of April 15th from the New York State Tar. Commission suggesting the use of certain information cards for the purpose of furnishing the data necessary for the assessors of the.Village was read, the suggestion approved, and the Clerk requested to secure an adequate supply of the cards. 12. The Clerk was also requested to prepare and have printed a form of voucher for use by the Village. Adjourned.
