Re: Report of the Fire Chief for October 1984
During October the Fire Department responded to $ fire calls. These
calls can be broken down into 2 alarm malfunctions at B.O.C.E.S. ,
1 odor of gas which turned out to be a skunk, 1 malicious false alarm
at Dewitt Jr. High School, and 1 motor vehicle accident in front of
Dewitt Jr. High School,
The Rescue Squad responded to 16 rescue calls. These calls are broken
down as follows:
1 fractured jaw 1
2 fractured ankle 1
1 difficulty breathing 1
2 head lacerations 1
1 car -bike accident 1
1 motor vehicle accident (2 victums) 1
1 motor vehicle accident (Lansing)
1 man trapped in trash compactor(Lansing)
rib injuries
search (Ithaca)
chest pains
poisoning
abdominal pain
micro -alert for a fall
I took one engine to Dewitt Jr. High for four sections of a health class
being taught to seventh graders. We spent half of each section in the class
talkt:ng and answering questions, and the other half outside looking over
the engine and the equipment on it. The light rain that day did not dampen
the spirit of the students. It was a most rewarding day for me.
