REPORT OF ENGINEER
October, 1984
. '•. .
825 HANSHAW ROAD
After extensive repair work including much good effort by the Public Works crew
and in particular, Charlie Purcell who worked overtime all day Saturday and Sunday,
September 28 and 29, the house at 825 Hanshaw Road was made ready and was rented
October 1, 1984 for one year at the rent of $400 per month with a $400 deposit, to
Mr. Richard Cochran who will live there with his mother.
SUNSET PARK
Vandals and the elements have combined to put the stonewalls and benches at the
Village Park in poor condition. To prevent further damage occurring during the
winter, masons were hired through Paolangeli contractor to replace cap stones,
straighten.stone columns, replace missing and disintegrate3'stone'in walls, and
point up walls. It is evident now the cost will exceed the $1,000 in Community
Beautification line item of the 1984 -85 Budget. Some of the necessary work can be
postponed to the next budget year without subjecting the stone work in the Park to
further damage. For the next budget year, it is recommended that a separate Parks
budget be set up so that our parks can be better maintained. Although vandalized
by a few the Sunset Park is enjoyed by many.
BRUSH TRIM BACK
Although there has been good response to letters sent out about trimming,,there are
24 property owners that have not complied within the time provided. The removal of
bush that has been cut seems to be the biggest problem for the residents. Does the
Board wish to consider a change in policy to include brush removal without it being
cut to length-!and bundled ??
VILLAGE HALL
A matching table to our present Board Room table is available with the purchase of a
top for $450 and finishing for $100. This would be an inexpensive way to provide
space at the present table for Board members and .Officers.
SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT'
The Belt Filter has been delivered and is in place. Connecting the filter and alter-
ing the conveyor belt is in process. The current estimate is for a November comple-
tion date.
SEWAGE CONTRACT
The Engineer met wit he Mayor of the Village of Lansing, Anne Furry and the Village
of Lansing Engineer,tb Hunt, on sewage treatment service for the Village of
Jfiinsinq and that area known as the Cima subdivision in the Town of Lansing. They
were told that a contract with a sewer district (to be formed) in the Town of
Lansing would have to be made between V.C.H. and T. of L. and that a new contract
between V.C.H. and V. of L. would have to be made to cover all areas in the V. of L.
not now covered under contract with V.C.H. This probably means V. of L. must create
a new Village -wide sewer district.
The Mayor of Lansing was also informed that the sewage from the "Lansing area" Town
and Village, as of March 1984 exceeds the Engineer's (Teetor & Dobbins) estimate of
sewage from that area for the year 1990.
