SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for April 1984
The Police Department handled 69 complaints and investigated
4 motor vehicle accidents during the month. There were 67
traffic tickets and 59 parking tickets issued.
There were four felony complaints for burglary during the month.
One was the burglary of a business and was cleared by a lengthy
investigation in which $316 was recovered but no arrest was made
at the request of the complainant. One was a forced entry at night
into a sorority house and the one forced entry at night into a
fraternity which is believed connected to a series of similar
offenses in the City of Ithaca and on the Cornell University
campus. The fourth burglary was a report of missing property
from a residence with no information as to when it may have
occurred. There were eighteen misdemeanor complaints, seven
for petit larceny, three criminal mischief, three aggravated
harassment, two criminal trespass, one bad check, one public
lewdness, one alcoholic beverage control law violation.
One person age 16 and one person age 15 were apprehended during
the month in possession of a vehicle which they had not been
authorized to have and the matter was handled within the department
as requested by the complainant without arrest. A 34 year old
subject was apprehended in connection with a commercial burglary
but also not arrested as mentioned above.
An updated status report of the Sutton Estate and planned expenses
will be submitted for approval of the Village Board at this
meeting.
There was a total of $3,681.00 in propert reported lost or stolen
and $395.69 in property recovered by the Police Department this
month.
The full -time officers worked 18 hours overtime during the month
and the part -time officers worked 86 hours.
