It is the recommenda- tion of the Public Works foreman and Engineer that he should be kept on as an hourly worker (40 hours a week) until next June 1, at which time he would be permanently appointed as a regular employee. There is a need for his talents and he would make an excellent addition to the Public,Morks crew. The Public Works employees were given a copy of the statement of "Wages and Salary Administration for Public Works Employees" (copy attached) and the Engineer ex- plained the implementation of the policies and answered all questions raised. ICE AND SNOW CONTROL Weather conditions (rain that froze on contact with /ground) caused sidewalk problems that have lasted several weeks. Roads were cleared with salt and grits but the Village does not have equipment for treating ice (as distinct from snow) on side- walks. It has been Village policy not to salt sidewalks. VILLAGE GARAGE One of the "four large overhead doors at the Village Garage has deteriorated to the point where it should be replaced. Effort to repair the door has added so much weight to the door that it is difficult to lift. A quotation of $1,370 installed has been received from Genson Overhead Door Service. There is money in Acct. A1640.51 - Central Garage Supplies if money for insulation is deferred until the next budget year. The Engineer requests permission to purchase the overhead door.
