FIRE HOUSE ROOF AND BLOCK POINTING REPAIRS
The repairs to the Fire House roof and parapet wall around the edge
of the building and the pointing of the top two courses of block
have been completed by contractor, Harold Wright. The cost of the
pointing was $288. The cost of the roof repair and the'water proof-
ing of the parapet wall was $272. Breaks in the water proofing mem-
brane on the parapet wall were the cause-of water getting into the
block wall and hence, the breaking down of the mortar. The roof
repair will be adequate for this year but all .three . flat roofs at the
Fire House should be resaturated with'an asphalt oomPound at the rate
of 8 gallons per square before more leaks occur. The,cost for removal
of the stone on top of the three roofs, repair, or replacing of flash-
ing, and resaturation with an asphalt roofing material at the rate of
8 gallons per square, and the replacing of the stone on the roof would
cost an estimated $6300. It is recommended that this be put in the
budget for next year and the work be done next spring or early summer.
BELCHER PROPERTY
Professor Donald Belcher ha,s requested..a'statement from.the Village
that he will be granted access to his property from the extension of
Tyler Drive. This is on the-land that was.taken by NYS at the time of
the construction of Rou'te"13'and just recently abandoned by NYS to
the Village. As to'who.is to fund the road on Village property.up to
the edge of the Belcher property, should b'e'addressed.
SCHOENFELD DEVELOPMENT ..
XPlans for the development of Lexington Drive just outside the East line
of the Village of Cayuga Heights will be presented at the Board meeting.
Seven or eight houses,.with frontage on Lexington Road, will be located
within the boundaries of the Village. Lexington Road and the front 25'
• of each lot are in the Town.`of Ithaca. At this time decisions.should
be made as to what charges' and'what serVices will be granted the',home-
owners. Most'.of the land and•'all of the buildings will be in„th'e'Vil-
lage of. Cayuga Heights: The'Village will'col'lect most of the real
property taxes from these properties. Because the houses will sewer
into a sanitary sewer line located in th6'TOwn of Ithaca, any sewer
line charges•s.hould be paid by the property owner to the Town of Ithaca.
Ch.ar,ges. for . sewage treatment':should be 'paid to the Village as, ,a Village
resident at the rate of one unit rather than a.unit and a half. 'Any
water.,line.charges should be .paid to the Town of Ithaca because the
houses would attach to .a water main which lies in the Town of.Ithaca.
The property owners would be billed as a regular Village resident for
any water use charges. Although it would be necessary to travel on a
Town of Ithaca road, the property owners should be granted police, fire
protection and trash collection because the houses will be located
within the Village.
