TELEPHONE 607.257.1011 July 18, 1983 TO: Honorable Frederick G. Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for June 1983 The Police Department handled 71 complaints and investigated 8 motor vehicle accidents during the month. There were 24 traffic tickets and 5 parking tickets issued. There was one felony complaint, that being a forced entry residential burglary. There were fifteen misdemeanor complaints, three for bad checks, three petit larceny, three aggravated harassment, two criminal trespass, one criminal mischief., one public: lewdness;. "one theft of services, and one alcoholic beverage control law violation. One person was arrested for driving while intoxicated and one person was arrested for petit larceny (shoplifting). The IBM electric typewriter which we bought used 15 years ago and was in the Sergeant's Office has now been replaced and its value if sold is about $50. I have spoken with Mrs. Matyas about a need for it at the Community Center library and would recommend we loan it to the Community Center. Robert and Jane Kalter of the Wordpro have spoken to me about their new building project and that they are now anticipating moving into their new building by October 1st, 1983. They have one more year on their lease and wish to begin to negotiate a sublet if the Village does not decide to use it and release them from their lease. I would strongly recommend the Village Board now assign this space to the Police Department. I will discuss this further with the Board at the monthly meeting. I would recommend that two public hearings be scheduled before the August 15, 1983 monthly board meeting, one to consider amending the Traffic Control Law and the other to consider amending the Open Alcoholic Beverage Container Prohibition. I will prepare the proposed changes for review by the Village Attorney and preparation by the Village Clerk. There was a total of $306.36 in property reported lost or stolen and $285.91 in property recovered by the Police Department. The full -time officers worked 18 hours overtime and the part -time officers worked 48 hours during the month.
