HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Engineer 3/21/1983VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS REPORT OF THE ENGINEER March 21, 1983 WATER LINES During the past month the Village Public Works crew has been working on water main valves and hydrant guard valves to make sure they were accessible. That part of the water line system is now in good shape. SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT The Engineer is investigating the possibility of eligibility of the proposed Belt Filter Press for grants from either the State or Federal governments. I A request for 90% partial payment of the State portion of the cost of the East Upland Sidewalk and the North Triphammer Culverts was submitted to the Tompkins County Highway Dept. The Highway Dept, approved our request. We should receive the $28,090.80 within three weeks. Although this $28,000 income is not credited to the Village Sidewalk or Streets accounts.out of which it was spent, it will, in effect, offset some of the overrun in these accounts. SNOW REMOVAL The increased cost of salt, the decision to have our salt trucked in by a contract carrier (with a truck with a large aluminum body), and the Board's request for more salt on North Triphammer, Triphammer and Pleasant Grove Roads, made it necessary to exceed this year's Snow Removal Supplies budget. There is, however, 30 tons of salt in inventory and 30 tons of mixed salt and grits for any spring snows and for next year. ACCEPTANCE OF DEDICATED ROAD Ivar Jonson is scheduled to appear before the Board of Trustees on March 21, 1983 to propose acceptance by the Village of the road and cul -de -sac known as Lisa Place. Acceptance of the road by the Village must take place before the Zoning Officer can issue a Zoning Permit for building on any of the lots that front on that road. Before acceptance by the Village the road must be properly graded; base gravel, all drainage culverts, utility lines (water, sewer, gas, etc.) in place; street lighting poles, and fire hydrants all in place. The paving of the road to Village specifications must be completed. In the past the Village has accepted a certified check or money held in escrow for the $ amount of an approved bid to provide the paving. Also a deed to the road acceptable to the Village Attorney must be presented and accepted.
