of the
ZONING OFFICER
February 22, 1983
During the past 12 months, 8 zoning permits were issued for the
construction of new residential construction with an estimated con-
struction cost of $745,000. For the same period of time 14 zoning
permits were issued for the construction of addition and alterations
with an estimated construction cost of $132,692. six (6) sign permits
were issued and 15 road opening permits were issued.
The Zoning Board of Appeals met six times during the last year.
The first decision was to render an interpretation of the Zoning
Ordinance that concurred with the Zoning Officer that an operation in
the residential district was primarily of a business nature and did
not fit into any of the permitted uses. A variance was granted to
allow the reduction of the average width of lot to less than 125. A
variance was granted on side yard set back distance in the commercial
zone. Two variances were granted on land coverage and one variance
was denied on land coverage.
The Board of Trustees acting as the Planning Board has had several
meetings on the Mobil Mini -Mart and is continuing to act to control that
operation. The Board has also met on the Chase development on Pleasant
Grove Road, Ivar Johnson development on Lisa Place, and the commercial
development on East Upland Road.
As land for construction becomes scarce the questions of zoning
increase.
