At their new automotive plant changes in the pretreatment of sewage system have been made to further protect against oil "spills" - application for sewage con- necting permits are in process. The Mayor and Engineer have been invited by the Plant Manager to inspect the new plant changes. The hiring of a consulting engineer by Morse Borg Warner is in process. The Village Engineer attended a D.E.C. public hearing in Cortland on lifting the moratorium on land disposal of sludge. STREETS N. Triphammer Road culverts were installed. Wing wall and headwalls will be in- stalled by Hey's Enterprises, our contractor, in the spring. The telephone company, by their contractor, Mancini, relocated telephone cables and encased them in concrete over the culverts. Republic Steel shipped the culverts to the Village with a rise of 6' -7" to 6' -9" dimension rather than the specified 5' -11 ". Two sections of culvert pipe arch were not the correct size and shape to fit together. This caused construction problems and will require raising the road with additional paving to get 18" of cover for maximum loading. VILLAGE HALL New electric service is in process of being installed by our.contractor and NYSE&G. It should be completed by Friday, December 17. SINGLEY DRAINAGE Mr. Singley of N. Triphammer Road selected one of the proposals the Village sug- gested for possible correction of his foundation drainage problem. He is to purchase the pipe and the Village has installed an extension of his drainage pipe on the east side of N. Triphammer Road. He was notified that the Village would not guarantee that this new line would not also freeze and that he should also install a sump pump for his.own protection. SNOW REMOVAL Tb date there has been little snow. Two hundred tons of finely crushed limestone, grits, has been purchased in place of sand. Cost was about the same as sand and better traction than with sand is anticipated. Again this year, smaller amounts of salt will be mixed with the grits and application will be on hills, inter - sections.. curves, and not on the straight parts of the Village roads with an effort to conserve dollars and environment. over
