HILL FOR WASP SPRAY
In answer to the Village Board's request for information on this expenditure,
it was found that 24 cans of 17 oz /can of aerosol wasp spray were purchased at
a cost of $5.59 /can or 33C /oz. This is the same cost per ounce of wasp spray
available in local retail stores in an 1111 oz. can at $3.79/can. Wasp spray
is carried in two of our pickups, our Packer truck and our mower. There are 8
cans in the case unused and one can in each of the vehicles mentioned for a_total
of 12 cans. This means.-that 12 cans have been used this summer for an average of
3 per vehicle. Bob Tyrrell, Public Works foreman, has explained that many wasp
nests have been uncovered during the mowing and roadside brush clearance aswell
as in working on sewer lines in off - street locations.
STREETS
E, Upland Road between Triphammer and The Parkway will be dug up by the NYSE&G
for the replacement of a gas main. The street will be backfilled with gravel
well compacted and paving replaced to the Villageasatisfaction_.according to the
terms of our road opening permit which has been issued to them.
The shoulder work on Triphammer Rd. has been started. We have experienced diffi-
culty in obtaining a crusher for the material taken off the top of the road which
we had planned to use for the shoulder as well as obtaining use of a grader and a
roller and a spreader for this operation.
The drainage problem on Corson Place has been corrected by the installation of an
8 inch line through the property of Philip McCarthy. The work has been completed
except for the replanting of the bank that slopes down to the Sunset Park area.
TREES
Trees have been removed in the following locations: a large oak at [line and
Overlook Roads, a large oak at 638 Highland Rd., and 2 pine trees at 704 Trip-
hammer. All these trees were dead or near dead. The wood was removed by our
Public Works crew after the trees were taken down by General Tree Service on a-_
contract basis.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
The Sewer Plant operator notified the Village Engineer that 200 gallons of oil
arrived at the plant through our sewer lines causing a potential hazard and a
difficult clean-up problem. Manholes were investigated to try to.ascertain if
this came from the Lansing area or the Cayuga Heights area. It seemed that it
came from the Cayuga Heights area although this was not altogether conclusive.
Further investigation is under way to try to determine the source.
