For the current year, nine months total, one zoning permit was issued
for construction of a new residence for an estimated cost of $69,800.
For the same period, 17 permits were issued for alterations for an
estimated construction cost of $178,500. Four road opening pemits
were issued. The Zoning Board of Appeals met once and granted a vari-
ance for a setback distance. The Board of Trustees acting as Planning
Board, met to resolve some zoning problems dealing with the former mobil
Gas Station at the Corners. A final determination as to what use will be
permitted has not, as yet, been resolved. They also met to hear a request
from the Corners Community Center for redesigned landscaping, curbs, walks,
parking areas and entrances to Village roads. The final design is not yet
completed. Several uses of the residential area for business operations
were brought to the attention of the Board and the zoning violations were
brought to the attention of the property owner. The Board also has been
wrestling this past year with the use of the Cayuga Heights School to
ensure that zoning ordinances were met and the uses were in the best
interest of the Village.
