We had all 5 of our trucks in use at the fire as well as a tanker from Varna and an engine from Lansing. Lansing brought in their 6" diameter hose and layed it into the fire scene. With out this hose there would not have been enough water to put out the fire as rapidly as we did. Ithaca Fire Department manned our fire house with an engine and some man- power while we were on the scene. The fire was caused by children playing with . fire in the barn which was filled with hay. Cornell Safety and the Tompkins County Sheriff's Department had the children in custody before we had the fire. extinguished. Engine 203 suffered a bent bumper when the driver was manuvering the truck to set up and pump at the fire. The bumper was caught on a fence post and bent out of shape. A new one has been ordered. On August 22 we were called to standby in Ithaca Fire Department Station N9 while they had a fire on the Commons. 1 engine and 1 ladder truck went into the city while some manpower stayed in our fire house. 8 men spent 12 hours and 56 minutes on this call.
