Marcham, Mayor, and members of the Board of Trustees FROM: Edward C. Collins, Acting Fire Chief RE: Report of the Fire Department for the month of December, 1980 In the month of December there were 6 General Alarms, 5 Incident Calls, and 4 Rescue Squad Calls. On Saturday the 6th, the department sent two trucks to 2.105 Hanshaw Road to a reported chimney fire. There was no damage - cause of ignition was a dirty chimney. Twenty men responded for a total of 5 man hours. On Thursday the 11th, seven men responded to the Fire Station for an alarm mal- function,at the station. A total of 21 minutes in man hours. On the 19th fourteen men and 1 truck responded to T.S.T. B.O.C.E.S. because of an alarm malfunction in buildings C&D. Total man hours were 6 hours and 20 min- utes. On Friday the 19th2 four men responded because of an alarm malfunction at the DeWitt huddle School. Total man hours- 40 minutes. On Sunday the 21st, at 11:38 A.M., two men responded to 107 Judd :alls Road for a chimney fire. The Ithaca Fire Department had been dispatched to the call, but the fire had already burned itself out. Total man hours were 34 minutes. On Monday the 29th nineteen men and the rescue truck assisted the Varna Fire Department in locating a downed aircraft off Sapsucker Woods Road. Our men helped to locate the aircraft and assist in the treatment of three of the four crash victims. A total of 76 hours and 38 minutes were spent on the call. On Monday the 29th, nineteen men again assisted the Varna Fire Department while they were involved at a working house fire. We sent one truck and a crew of men to the Varna Station. The total man hours for this call were 96 hours and 35 minutes. The five incident calls included a. an overheated oven b. burning trash c. a leaky baseboard hot water heater d. changed a flat tire at the request of the C.H.P.D. e. a leaking hot water heater The total man hours spent on fire calls for the month of December was 186 hours and 18 minutes. This time is in addition to drills, rescue calls, and incident calls.
