On October 24, 1980 I received a letter from Tompkins County Personnel Commissioner Hugh Hurlbut concerning the part -time police clerk position. He has agreed to petition the State Civil Service Commissioner for non- competitive status for the part -time Village Police Clerk position if the Village Board will pass a resolution that they agree that the position will remain in the non - competitive status only as long as the position remains as a part- time - position. I therefore request you adopt the following resolution: "VOTED to request the Tompkins County Personnel Commissioner to petition the State Civil Service Commission for non - competitive status for the part -time Village Police Clerk position, such status to remain in effect only as long as the position remains as a part -time position defined under the Civil Service Law." I will submit the bids for the purchase of a new police car at this meeting and hopefully will have a recommendation for the Board.
