Marcham, Mayor riembers of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights rlBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for September 1980 "113 Police Department handled 118 complaints and investigated 2 motor vehicle accidents during the month. There were 36 traffic tickets and parking tickets issued. mh:_c were six felony complaints, four for burglary, one for grand larceny, and one for criminal possession of a forged instrument. There were forty - aix misdemeanor complaints, fourteen for aggravated harassment, ten for petit larceny, ten for criminal mischief, seven for criminal trespass, one for criminal possession of stolen property, one for illegal possession of fireworks, and one for possession of weapons. Two persons were arrested'for trespass and one person was arrested for a felony driving while intoxicated charge. The residential burglary outbreak during August has subsided and we hope is under control. The Mayor, Trustee Anderson and I have completed arrangements with the Tompkins County Personnel Commissioner to create the part -time police clerk position at a rate of $4.75 per hour and the Mayor and I interviewed and have hired Patricia Stone effective October 9, 1980 to take the job on a provisional basis. The Personnel Commissioner has ruled the position must be a competitive civil service position and I have begun an inquiry, with the agreement of the Mayor, to determine if we can appeal this decision. I would request permission of the Board of Trustees to prepare specifications and advertise for bids for a new police car to replace Car #125 which is a 1979 Chevrolet Malibu and which will be two years old next spring. I would like to have the Board award the bid at the November meeting. There was a total of $15,071.41 in property reported lost or stolen and $22.00 in property was recovered by the Police Department. The full -time officers worked a total of 83.hours overtime and the part - time officers worked a total of 47 hours during the month. HRM:bp Respectfully submitted, Harlin R. McEwen Chief of Police
