REPORT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT

RE: Report of the Fire Department for the month of August 1980
In August there were 8 general fire alarms, 4 incident.calls, and 7 rescue squad
calls.
On August 13th, at 2:06 p.m., the Department was called to the Villa(;( ER1.7.i:n a
false alarm. Eleven men and two trucks responded'. Alarm -naused:by -Tel.ephone Co.
working on a pole near The Corners.
On August 20th, at 2:25 p.m., the Flexalarm reported an alarm but failed to indi-
cate a station. Eight men responded. The Telephone Co. repair service was
working on a box at The Corners and caused the alarm.
On August 22nd, at 8:55 P.m., the Department, vas called to 116 N. Sunset Dr. for
an electrical fire. Investigation revealed a faulty bathroom switch. Sixteen
men and 4 trucks responded.
Smoke in a basement at 408 East Upland Road was responsible for a call. A light
ballast had burned out causing a smoke odor. Ten men and 2 trucks responded.
On August 25, at 12:20 p.m., the Department was called to 246 Renwick Drive
because of smoke in a basement. Smoke was caused by a contractor testing sewer
lines with smoke. Ten men and 4 trucks responded.
On August 30, the Department was called to Lansing on mutual aid to stand by
while their company was committed on a call. Eleven men and 2 trucks responded.
Incident calls were: 1 assist police; 1 smoke odor; 1 stand by for Lansing at
airport; 3. assist Lansing at a car fire near the Village line.
The Fire Council requests permission to purchase a used Twin Sonic, Federal light'
bar for an Assistant Chief's car for the sum of $175. The necessary funds are
available in the year's budget.
