REPORT OF ENGINEER
August 1980
HIGHWAY MATCHING FUNDS
Through a Program for Safer Roads and Streets of New York State, the Village
can accept an award of $31,212 by agreeing to spend an additional $10,404
on a Village Safer Road Program and applying to the State for this grant. The
eligibility of the projects acceptable to the State is very broad, but the
decision must be made as to what projects the Village wishes to do and an
estimate of the cost must be submitted by October. let 1980. The construction
of these projects shall be initiated before.1983;so•, we do have three years
`:.imyhich to allocate $10,000 of Village funds. We must submit.our estimates
-• .,by October let 1980. A list of some of the possible projects is as follows:
1) Replace the culvert under North Triphammer Road at.Winthrop Drive.
2) .Replace the culverts under North Triphammer Road at 213 North

A decision should be made as soon as possible on the project or projects so
that an exact estimate can be made and submitted on time. .
KING DRAINAGE
A proposed agreement for installing a swale on the King property was received
from Mr. and Mrs. King. The difference between the King proposed agreement and
the Village proposed agreement is that the King proposed agreement does not put
the responsibility for fixture maintenance of the swale on the,Kings•or future
owners of the property. Therefore, in the opinion of the-Engineer, their pro-
posal is not acceptable.
TEXAS LANE WALKWAY
The realignment of a walkway across the Cornwall property is acceptable to
the Cornwalls. A problem has arisen with Dr. Rubenstein, owner of the Village
Green, over his acceptance of a. relocation of the path because some brush and
weeds were trimmed without his prior approval. Negotiations are in process
with the doctor.
