George, Fire Chief RE: Report of the Fire Department for the month of May 1980. There were 8 general alarms, 1 incident call, and 10 rescue squad cells. On May 3rd, at 3:53 p.m., there was an alarm malfunction at 310 Triphammer Road which called out the department. Twenty -three men and 5 trucks responded. Also on May 3rd, at 10:23 p.m., a sprinkler head was accidently broken at the Hurlburt House, Triphammer Road which caused an alarm. Twenty -three men and 4 trucks responded. A grass fire at 205 White Park Road called out the department on May 4th at 12:38 p.m. Nineteen men and 2 trucks responded. On May 5th, at 4 :25 p.m., an alarm malfunction at BOCES, Building B caused an alarm. Seventeen men and 4 trucks responded. A malicious false alarm at Northeast School caused an alarm on May 9th at 11:14 a.m. Ten men and 5 trucks responded. On May 14th, at 3:50 p.m., a clothes dryer fire at 204 North Sunset Road called out the Department. Twelve men.and 4 trucks responded. On May 17th, at 9:25 p.m., a furnace boiler exploded in the basement at 119 East Upland Road. The Department was called and 14 men and 4 trucks responded. A lawn mower which caught fire was responsible for a call to 1464 Renshaw Road at 9:57 a.m. on May 24th. This was a silent alarm, and 2 men and 1 truck responded. There was one incident call in May of a smoke investigation and 10 Rescue Squad cells. The Fire Council. requests permission for the following purchases which were approved in the 1980 -81 Fire Department budget. Bids have been requested. 400 ft. of 1 -3/4" fire hose at approximately $500.00. 400 ft. of 3" fire hose at approximately $950.00. New floor covering for the bunk room bathroom at approximately $150.00. New floor covering for the main bathroom at approximately $110.00. New floor covering for the station rear entrance at approximately $185.00. The new fire truck will be delivered the first week of July 1980. The Fire Council requests permission to advertise for bids to sell old Engine 202. A copy of the add is attached. The Fire Department is in receipt of a check for $200.00 as a gift in apyracia_ tion for the Department's fire responses to Cornell University buildings. The Department also had some old equipment, past use by our Department, which was sold as follows: Report of Cayuga Heights Fire Department - May 1980 page 2 Two old tube fire radios for $75.00 each for a total of $150.00. Three old M.S.A air pace and cylinders and two old Circle D portable flood lights beyond use by our Department for $250.00. At a meeting of the Fire Council it was voted to suggest to your Board that these funds be deposited in the Fire Department's new truck account. Attachment: FOR SALE BY SEALED BID Sealed bids will be received by the Village of Cayuga Heights, 836 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, Nev York, 14850 until 4:00 p.m. July 31, 1980 for one used 1960 Ford, American LaFrance fire truck, 5 -speed forward, new complete brake system, 750 GPM pump, 500 - gallon tank, 24 -ft, extension ladder, 14 -ft. roof ladder, two 10 -ft. hard suction, two 1 -in. booster reels, 200 ft. each, and miscellaneous equipment. Minimum bid $3000.00. Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
