HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Mayor 5/19/1980REPORT OF MAYOR - May 19, 1980
My principal business has been consideration of the issues raised by the
Vanek structures and the Cornell proposal regarding playing fields. On
these matters you have short reports from me. I talked to Mr. Vanek on
Monday last and told him what I had set forth in the memorandum to the
Board. I said I thought the time for experiment was over and that the
structure should be removed. I told him that I had written to Vice
President Matyas of Cornell saying, that the structures on the Old Golf
Course property were causing a traffic hazard and should be removed.
Another piece of business that deserves consideration is our obligation
to the Northeast Transit program. Mr. Fabbroni, as I reported at our
last meeting, said that approximately 26 persons from the Village used
the buses each day. Ile used this figure to justify the request that we
raise our contribution from $1500 to $2000. He further suggested that
we add $300 as our part of the expense for summer service.
I asked the Police Department for their figures on Village use of the
system and received from the Chief the information that on the two days
they counted the figures were 23 and 16.
The radio reported 5/13/80 that the summer service had been incorporated
into the program. The Village budget provides $2000 as our contribution.
I have had 2 or 3 conversations with Mollie Shoemaker regarding the possible
closing of Cayuga heights School. This has become an active issue. One
concern to us is what would happen to the school building if the school is
closed. We need to consider this matter when further information is
available.
