Engineer John Rogers
Engineer Rogers had presented a proposal that he be allowed to take a temporary
appointment to begin January 7, 1980 and to last, perhaps eight months, as
engineering consultant to the President of the University of Rochester. He
would take part in the planning and construction of a building. He said he would
return to Cayuga Heights on weekends and would perform his duties as Village
Engineer.
He said he regarded his commitment to theVillage in time as 15 hours per week.
He said that while in Rochester he would be available by telephone. During the
first two weeks of his work in Rochester his duties would be particularly heavy.
After discussion of this program with the Trustees, Mr. Rogers left the meeting.
The Trustees agreed to grant the Engineer's wishes and resolved that the follow-
ing conditions should apply:
1. During the first two weeks the Engineer must be available for consultation in
the Village Office on Fridays from 2 -4 p.m. and must also be available for the
remaining 13 hours on Saturdays and Sundays, some part of this time being
scheduled office hours in the Village Office from 9 -1 on Saturdays.
2. After the first two weeks the Engineer must be available for consultation in
the Village Office from 9 a.m, to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays
and must also be available for the remaining 10 hours on Saturdays and Sundays,
some part of the time being scheduled offfice hours in the Village Office from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
The Board thought it wise to consider appointment of an acting engineer who might
be consulted in case of emergencies when Engineer Rogers was in kDehester.
The Mayor reported that Professor Donald Gates had written to say that he could
not accept the Board's invitation to him to serve as a Village representative
on the S.C.L.I.W.C.
