George, Fire Chief RE: Report of the Fire Department for the month of December 1979 There were 12 general alarms and 16 incident calls in December 1979. On December lst, at 6:38 P.m., the Department was called to the Laundromat at Community Corners for a clothes dryer fire. Twenty -three men and 2 trucks responded. A car fire near 1442 Hanshaw Road called out the Department on December 2nd at 9:27 p.m. Twenty -one men and 2 trucks responded. On December 2nd, at 10:20 p.m., the Department was called to the Laundromat area in the mall of the Triphammer Shopping Plaza where a discarded cigarette caused a fire in a flower planter. On December 3rd, at 4:17 P.m., the Department was called to the Winston Court Apartments where one of the buildings was on fire. There was considerable damage to the attic which was fully involved upon arrival of the Fire Department. Thirty - four men, 5 trucks, and one engine each from Varna and Lansing responded. An electrical fire at the Gaslight Village Apartments called out the Department on mutual aid on December 6th at 10:58 p.m. Twenty -one men and 3 trucks responded. On December 9th, at 7:15 P.m., the Department was called to 108 N. Sunset Drive for an electrical short in a light switch. Twenty -two men and 4 trucks responded. A chimney fire in the Small Mall called out the Department on December 10th at 10:30 p.m. Twenty men and 3 trucks responded. On December 19th, at 6:28 p.m., an apartment fire at Lansing West Apartments called out the Department. Seventeen men and 3 trucks responded. An auto accident was responsible for a call to the intersection of Triphammer Road and Upland Road on December 24th at 12:49 p.m. Eighteen melt and 2 trucks responded. On December 26th, at 12:34 p.m., a car fire at the corner of Jessup Road and Trip- hammer Road called out the Department. Fifteen men and 1 truck responded. A car fire on Route 13 in the Village called out the Department on December 27th at 3:14 p.m. Twenty men and 2 trucks responded. The Department was called to assist at an auto accident in the 100 block of Warren Road on December 29th at 1:11 a.m. Fourteen men and 2 trucks responded. The 16 incident calls in December were as follow: Medical Emergency - 10; Electrical problems - 3; Smoke Odor - 2; Mutual Aid to loan equipment - 1. - 2 - The Fire Council requests permission of the Board to purchase the followint items which were approved for puchase in this year's budget and the necessary funds are available in the budget. 1 - portable radio $800.00 6 - 50 -ft. lengths of 1 -3/4 in. hose $372.00 4 - 50 -ft. lengths of 3 -in. hose $460.00 1 - A -frame aluminum attic latter $225.00 1 - gasoline powered saw for cutting into roofs, floors and walls $750.00.
