The Fire Council is requesting Board approval of a radio service contract
with Finger Lakes Communications Co. from January 1, 1980 through May 31, 1980,
the balance of this fiscal year.
In the past the Fire Dept. has had little radio equipment owned by the Village
so we bad no contract but paid for service repairs as needed. We have considerably
increased our equipment,by Village purchase and that purchased by the Fire
Company and donated to the Village.
Our Village owned equipment now consists of 19 radio pagers carried by the
firemen; 7 mobile radios; 9 portable radios; and 3 base radios and an encoder.
Most of this equipment has been purchased in the past two years. In addition we
have 5 mobile radios in the Fire Trucks which are owned and serviced by the
County at County expense. Last fiscal year we spent $424.00 for service calls
and repairs. This year we have already spent $422.00 and we will spend a great
deal more the balance of this fiscal year. Inflation in continually increasing
these expenses.
We have talked with Finger Lakes Communications and they are willing to service
all of our equipment under contract for $132.00 per month. For the next five (5)
months this cost would be $660.00. We feel we will save money by placing our
equipment aj.nder contract. Our present budget will cover this expense.
