RE: Report of Fire Department for month of October 1979
There were three General Alarms and 12 Incident Calls in October 1979.
On October 5th, at 7:50 a.m., the Department was called to 320 East Upland
Road for an electric pole fire where an electric transformer was burning.
Fourteen men and two trucks responded.
On October 24th, at 1:37 p.m., an accidental fire alarm called out the
Department to the DeWitt School. Nine men and two trucks responded.
On October 31st, at 10:47 p.m., the Department was called on mutual aid to
stand by with one engine at the Ithaca Fire Station while their equipment
was committed to a working fire. While there, our engine and men responded
to a fire call at 411 N. Cayuga St. for a broken gas line.
There were 12 incident calls as follows: 7 - medical emergencies; 2 - calls
to stand by at Cayuta Heights station; 1 - clothes dryer smoking; 1 - gasoline
flush; 1 - gas odor.
On October 30th and 31st a group of 15 firemen stood by at Cayuga Heights
station for several hours in the evening because of Halloween.
