SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for August 1979
The Police Department handled 64 complaints and investigated 5 motor
vehicle accidents during the month. There were 115 traffic tickets
issued and 21 parking tickets.
There were three felony complaints, two for burglary and one unfounded
motor vehicle theft. There were thirteen misdemeanor complaints, six for
bad checks, three for petit larceny, two for criminal mischief, and two
for criminal trespass.
Three persons were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, one person
was arrested for Burglary and one person was arrested for Unlawful Possession
of Marijuana. One juvenile was apprehended for vehicle and traffic violations.
Now that Cambridge Place has been paved and there are three houses:occupied
on it, there is a need for a stop sign at the intersection with Burleigh
Drive. I have issued a temporary order to erect a stop sign there with the
approval of the Mayor and the Village Engineer in accordance with the Village
Traffic Ordinance and request that a public hearing be scheduled at the
October Board meeting to consider amending the traffic ordinance to include
this stop sign. The Village Clerk has the necessary wording for the
amendment.
There was a total of $6,710.31 in property reported lost or stolen during
the month and $6,327.75 in property was recovered by the Police Department.
The full -time officers worked 24 hours overtime during the month and the
part -time officers worked 50 hours.
