REPORT OF THE ENGIIMR - July 1979
CORNWALL LAND TRADE
The Engineer and Trustee Anderson met with Harry Cornwall to discuss his interest
in trading the 12 -foot strip of land along the northwest part of his property for
a similar piece of land on the southeast part of his property. Mr. Cornwall then
expressed interest and asked for specific approval by the Village. The map will
be presented at the Board meeting.
PAVING AROUND VILLAGE HALL
The Engineer met with Dr. Rubenstein and went over a second bid he had acquired for
doing paving from Cortland Paving Co. These bids will be presented at the Board
meeting.
SEWAGE CONTRACT
The Engineer met with Gary Gleason for discussion of things to be included in the
new Sewage Treatment Operating contract. Basically, Mr. Gleason is happy with the
contract except for a clause he feels is necessary that would protect him against
new State regulations requiring treatment that would cause him increased labor cost.
He also feels that there should be an increase in the dollar figure of the contract
due to inflation and increased cost of labor. This matter should be discussed at
the Village Board meeting to see if there are things the Village Board wishes to
have included in the contract.
STREET PAVITiG
A heavy paving job has been completed on Cayuga Heights Road from the City Line to
Hanshaw Road and from Hanshaw Road just past Hillside Drive. Also, from the inter-
section of Hanshaw Road and North Triphammer Road north past Texas Lane intersection.
The total cost of materials for this paving was approximately $22,000. Because of
the number of sewer lines that had been replaced which caused many depressions and
breaks in the original paving, half of this paving cost was charged to Sewer Lines
repair.
APPROINTMENT OF LABORER FOR PERMANENT FULL -TIME
Public Works Superintendet, Robert Tyrrell, has requested that Mr. Timmie J. Dupuy
be appointed on a permanent, full -time basis.
VILLAGE PARK MASONRY
Approximately $400 worth of stone was purchased and put in place by Village work
force to repair the masonry work at Sunset Park. The stones that were replaced are
extremely heavy and have been placed in such a manner that it would be most diffi-
cult for vandals to again remove them.
PURCHASE OF A MAGNETIC LOCATOR #
The Public Works Department wishes to purchase a magnetic locator for finding sewer
manholes and other metal objects below the surface. Our present locator is fifteen
years old, approximately, and in poor operating condition and does not have the
strength to locate objects very far beneath the surface. The price will be $525.
This particular make and model has been recommended to us by the Bolton Point Water
Commission.
